I use the Alpine MotoSafe noise attenuators which have two levels of inserts. Its amazing the difference between the types of noise the two transmit - but most amazing that none of it is really obvious when wearing no hearing protection.

I think this is also another very important and overlooked part of helmet safety. Noise induced deafness may not be as dramatic as an impact injury, but it can still have a significant impact on the quality of life.
