Obviously it's down to the rider and what you want to get out of it. I have always used a full face helmet for the extra protection.

I did think of going open face in the summer. Here's a link to the reason I didn't: http://jeff.dean.home.att.net/swisher.htm Though I think the picture at the bottom is somewhat unnecessary and the point is made clear just by the pic of the helmet.

I wonder if it would have stopped the car driver who ran into the back of me at 60mph, cos she missed the brake pedal and hit the accelerator? Hmmmmmm I think not. Unless it includes rear facing radar and anti-car missiles.

Be protected as best you can cos there's always some f***wit will try to kill you.

Anyway, back to the original question - Arai full face for me. Twice they have saved my life. One a rear impact (the one above) and one a front landing at very high speed. The helmet was a mess and I was concussed both times, but I had no other head injuries - no broken neck from the chinbar .

Me thinks Karma is creeping up on your a$$ just waiting to bite... Darwins theory will win out eventually and I'll attend your funeral if I can make it.

Enjoy your half a$$ helmet, obviously you enjoy more then you enjoy having a face.

ATGATT! Means covering every exposed part of your body. Cover it all, KEEP it all!

I'm sure "Your Kissee" is glad you kept your kisser Glad you were protected by all your gear! I can only picture what it might have been like watching all those pebbles / stones fly by your shield.

I wear a Shoei RF-1000 with a Pinlock visor. Cool in the summer and fog-free in the winter.

Anytime I long for a open face helmet...I just think of the facial reconstructive surgery. Riding a motorcycle itself is a compromise for safety, of course, but for me personally I'm not willing to compromise on the helmet. If you look at statistics on average it's over 50% of the impact to the right or left chin area.

The only time I've ridden without a jacket was for a short period at Sturgis. It was SO dang hot and traffic moved so slow.
