Helmet Shopping
My current helmet has two annoyances so I am beginning to consider what helmet might solve those two problems.
1. It is very noisy above 50 MPH
2. The visor leaks when I get caught in very hard rain.
So those of you who have quiet dry helmets please let me know what you have.

I'm considering alternatives for my next helmet, but currently use a Shoei RF-1000. It didn't rate well on some third-party tests, but has been a good helmet for me.
It does well in all but torrential rain, and I usually wear earplugs on all but in-town trips.

I forgot to mention my current helmet is an HJC SY-Max.
The flip front was necessary for me to see maps in the tank bag (trifocals).
The GPS has solved that problem since it is within better view, I don't need the tank bag for maps so much.
I wear earplugs most of the time, but the wind roar above 50 overwhelms the earplugs most of the time.
So I am looking more to a full face this time. I have an oval shaped head. So far I've not found a Shoei that fits me well. my Brother has an Arai and a Shoei, he says the Shoei is much quieter.

There have been a couple of really good threads about modular helmets in this forum if you do a quick search. One thing that cant be stressed enough is that fit is the most important part of the equation for any helmet.

I like my Nolan N102 (modular), but I haven't used enough helmets to comment on noise, and I don't ride in the rain.

Most of the time great ventilation through a helmet has a downfall in wind noise.
My favorite for wind noise is Shoei X-11 Favorite for fit is Suomy Spec 1R extreme, but with the side plates covering the visor mech - it does make it noisier.
Visor on the Suomy is of better quality with a better seal, but is a pain to change
Visor on the Shoei is the best of best as far as changing the visor. I have never had the Shoei leak and have ridden in some very hard downpours.

I ride just about year round, rain or shine...not ice though...
Switched from an HJC to a Nolan Modular (forget the model) - been in a few major downpours with no leaks to speak of. Also, it weighs about half of what the HJC did, so I don't get a stiff neck on long rides.

I am also thinking about a new helmet, I have ans HJC AC-10, I like the helmet alot BUT!!! the noise is almost unbearable at highway speeds, additionally, I have lost some weight and the it fits well but not like it used to. It has always been noisy.

Denny,
I also wore a Sy-Max for seven years no less. I really wanted to get another modular, in fact had bought a Caberg but it just wasn't a good fit for me. Had the internal darker shield and very nice.
But I just recently bought a Scorpion EXO 700. If you think you could do without a modular I would highly reccomend this helmet.

I have a Shoei RF-1000 Diabolic and it does not leak, feels great, but it is
pretty noisey to me. I usually wear ear plugs when doing any highway riding.
