I just bought an Arai Vector and wind noise is moderate with shield closed at speed and it fits my head type better than RX-7, RF-1000's, etc. I do have one complaint though, at 40mph and below the wind hiss is unbearable with the visor open. I can crack it halfway and it is fine, but who wants a horizon line in the middle of their horizon line? Know what I mean? Hasn't rained since I bought it so no comments there. I am going to note that aesthetics had a certain role here, too. There was a special matte black/metallic finish that helped win me over. Ultimately, it was the showroom fit and previous Arai product satisfaction that pointed me.

Before that I rode with a Shoei RF-1000 and I really liked that helmet. Ventilation was great. Wind noise was decent enough. Rode in the rain on more than a few mornings and can't remember a leak. Head fit was good, but could have been better. That is why I switched to the Arai Vector. IMHO, if the RF-1000 fits your head shape then I really think this is one of the better helmets for the price out there right now. My wife loves hers.

Other previous helmet was an Arai Signet/E and I also really liked that helmet. It fit my head very well, too. I don't think they make them anymore, though. Ventilation was not as good as the RF-1000, but good enough to ride in Sacramento summers. My favorite part about this helmet is that I could ride up to about 55mph with visor up without any horrible hissing sounds.

Ah hell don't say the season's over! My summer was way too full of other stuff. I'm gonna need to have an extended season this year to make up for lost time.

Heated vest thread anyone?

I got a Gerbings Jacket liner, gloves and socks for Christmas last year.
So I will be riding (comfortably) longer than in previous years. I tried the jacket and gloves early this spring, but only on a couple of short rides.

It's definately the bees knees.

I have an older Arai RX7-RR4 which I love. Great shield venting, not too noisy under 90mph and I can personally vouch for its safety. The newer Arai RX7's are supposed to be even better. I also have a Shoei RF1000 which is even quieter but I have'nt had it in the rain and haven't used a Shoei the hard way yet.

Don't let the price scare you, they're worth it.

Just got my EXO-700 I really like the fit alot. THe noise level is dramatically better than my AC-10. My only complaint is that the check pads are a little tighter than I would like, but I am sure tey will give a little.

I finally had the opportunity to try on several helmets the other day while a new rear tire was getting installed on my TBS.

I think I liked the Shoei x11 the best. The Arai Profile fit my noggin very well, but no way could i get my glasses in there properly. The glasses went into the x11 quite easily.

I tried a nolan, just didn't fit my head. The new SymaxII HJC looks pretty nice too, but it does not fit me as well as the original SyMax that I am using right now.

I wore each around the store for about 15 minutes.

So now I still need to find and try a Schuberth.

I am not in dire need of a new one, but likely by the end of the year I'll come off the bucks for a new one. I've pretty much decided to go with full face instead of modular this time.

Scorpion still in the running, just need to find the EXO-700 in stock to try on.
