Thumbs up Scorpion Helmet

Just picked up a new Scorpion EXO 700. It is a matte graphic red helmet. Saw them at Vintage Days at Mid-Ohio a couple of weeks ago.
Found a dealer that gave a discount and got a spare shield also.
Haven't had the chance to try it out yet but it looks great, feels really good on, and the face shield is 100% fog free. We'll see about that one.
Also the sheilds on these helmets change out in seconds.
My only concern is going from a modular to a fixed full face.

Once I take it for a ride I'll know a little better how it's going to work out for me.

I've heard a lot of good things about these helmets. Saw one in a catalog the other day that also had a small sun screen behind the normal screen, looked like a good idea especially on hot days.

You'll have to let us know how it wears.

Last week I met a buddy of mine real early (6:15a.m.) and we went for a ride before the heat of the day got too bad. It's has been in the mid 90's for a long time here in southern Ohio.
Anyhow, the helmet was just as comfortable as I hoped it would be. I went from a modular (HJC Symax) to a regular full face. I was kind of concerned about whether or not I would like the regular over the modular but there wasn't any problems. In fact after my buddy had to go 12:30p.m. I kept on riding and didn't make it home til 6:15 p.m. 433mi.
Just got in today from about 250mi. and rain!
This helmet is awesome! If anybody wants a really good helmet with a fog free shield and a shield that changes out in seconds this is the helmet to buy.

EXO 700

Brian

By the way--- the helmet discussed earlier with the internal shield isn't out quite yet. It is the EXO 1000. Supposed to be out this fall.

I can't wait to try on one of the EXO-1000's! Internal sun shield, air adjustable cheek pads (think Reebok pump) - too cool.

The EXO-400 fits me great, but the 700 not so much. I'm hoping the 1000 will deliver the best of all worlds.

I've been riding for a bit over a year with an exo 400. I wasnt in the market for a helmet. Was looking for one for the girlfriend. After seeing how the scorpions compared in safety testing in the motorcyclist's helmet comparisons, I had to give them a look. After trying one on, it fit as good if not better than the shoei's that I have been wearing. For the price of them, I ended up getting one for the girlfriend and myself. The no fog shield actually works and they do not scratch as easily either. Probably one of the coolest helmets I have worn as well. The only negative I have with it is there is a slight negative pressure under the chin guard that will suck up the occasional bug into the helmet. Other than that, you cannot beat these helmets for the price or twice the price.

That negative will be a little less slight when you catch a wasp at 80mph.

Seriously though - the EXO-400 is the only helmet that I've tried on (and I've liiterally tried them all!) that was comfortable for me. The only thing that kept me from buying one is that it wasn't an 'upgrade' from my HJC AC-11. Then again, the padding on my AC-11 is getting pretty packed in, and it's never been much of a looker (picked it up on clearance)... hmmmm.....

Interesting, the only huge difference between the 400/700 is the material the outer shell is made of. (400=Polycarb Plastic stuff 700=Fiberglass something or other (lighter))

I was under the impression the factory shell mold shape is the same on both. They molds only differ in size, one for SM/MED and one for LG/XLG. SM/MED or LG/XLG delineation is made by using the corresponding removable liner.

Of course I could be completely wrong too.

scrape,

You are right on the money. When I went down to pick up my new 700, I was kinda concerned about how tight it fit. I originally got a large but it felt pretty snug. (compared to my seven year old Sy-Max) So the salesman at this shop said no problem and proceeded to change the liner from the large to an x-large. We all sat there for quite a while deciding which one fit me the best. I have to say that those guys took the time to help me make the right choice. I have been on 2 pretty good rides with it so far (1-430mi., 1-250mi.)and no complaints at all. As close to fog free as you can get and the shield changes out in seconds!

Yeah the folks at the dealership were surprised that the 700 wasn't comfortable for me as well. Part of the problem is that I sit between a medium and a large, which is where most manufacturers change the shell size, which throws more variables into the equation. I remember thinking that the 400's liner was a bit more cushy than the 700 - maybe that's why it felt more comfortable.
