Interesting thread. I have been wearing a Shoei RF1000 for almost four years, and it is getting a bit packed out. I was planning on buying another one, but I will look at Suomy helmets. I tried one a couple of years ago and couldn't even get a medium on my head. I wear a medium Shoei and had medium Arai and FM helmets before it. Maybe it is time to try again, since a packed out helmet tends to lift at speed. It can be an unfortunate distraction.

My Extreme fits much closer than my Profile but both are comfortable on.
Strange, no one would describe me as having a "long oval shaped" head and yet, my Suomy Spec 1R Extreme fits me perfectly. I take a L in the Spec 1R, a L in my last Vemar and a L in my last three Arai's. Go figure. BTW, this latest Spec 1R is really a great helmet.

The Suomys are also extremely lightweight.

Will,
A medium Shoei RF equates to a Large Suomy Spec 1R Extreme This is larger than the Spec 1R which you will need a medium should you choose not to go with the extreme.
