Shoei X-11 here very very light and the best helmet I have ever put on my head. I was buying a RF-1000 shoei and made the mistake of trying on the X-11 perfect fit for my noodle. Sold..

The best helmets on the market today as far as impact ratings go are the Z1R performance helmets. They're also probably the cheapest (inexpensive). I think it was cycle news or sport rider magazine that did a comparison test of helmets and the Z1R came out on top, which in turn pissed Arai off and they've since pulled all current and future advertising from the magazine. That just goes to show you what the Arai company is like.

Try Caberg, I love mine with second interior dark visor. No more messing with changing from tint to clear and much better the having to wear sun glasses. I find it's nice and light and very stable at high speed (maybe not a problem for a Swiss rider!!) Keep shouting at Arai, service like that from the manufacturer of safety equipment should not be accepted under any circumstances.

I've got an HJC CL-SP that I like quite a bit. A little on the loud side for my taste, but the fit is really good.

The rubber trim on my Arai fell off, too, but Arai fixed it w/ no problems.

If you're ending your relationship with Arai, try Suomy. Really nice helmet but a bit on the loud side. My wife loves hers - it has those wild-a$$ed flower graphics.

I loved my first Arai about 8 yrs. ago. Since then, the two that followed it had vents falling off at an alarming rate. Even had a shield rip off at speed. Just bought a Suomy Spec 1R Extreme Dragon and the graphics and fit are excellent. Hope it holds up to use. BTW, www.helmetharbor.com has some really good videos about the ups and downs of various helmets. They rate the AGV TiTech, Shoei X-11, Arai, and Suomy Extreme Spec 1R as the best.

Rubber trim fell off my Signet GTR; I glued it back on with 5 minute epoxy. Problem solved.

When this hat reaches the end of it's service life (whenever that is), I'm probably going to go with a Scorpion. They get very high marks, are fairly inexpensive (compared to ARAI, everything is), and they seem to fit my melon. Their shields get very good reviews as well.

True that. Bought an Arai Quantum with the Tiger 4 years ago and will be looking for a replacement soon...Previously I'd been in Shoeis and entirely happy. This Arai...not so much. One of the side plate bounced off somewhere in Arches Nat'l Monument and it took months to get it replaced thru Arai. During that time I had to ride with the visor down and locked so it would stay on. There are better ways to go touring in the Southwest in August...!

Whatever I buy next, I'll go through the visor removal process in the store, too. The Quantum is needlessly complex with plenty of fiddly plastic pieces to drop off or break behind the side plates.

Boo Arai.
