I have an enormous, oddly shaped melon, and the Fulmer 3XL Modus flip-up is one of the few full-face hats that fits me well. I bought one two years ago to go with my then new (to me) '93 Suzuki vx800 and I loved it. I found out about two weeks ago that it had been recalled in January and contacted Fulmer right away. Customer-service wise, they were very good - pleasant to talk to, sent my shipping label out to me right away, let me pick what color I wanted the replacement, and surprisingly quick turn-around on the replacement.

Since I wasn't expecting the quick turn around, and my open-face spare doesn't fit terribly well, I found a local Fulmer dealer and bought a replacement Modus - same size, etc. This one made had a lot of wind noise, poor venting and had some odd pressure points that gave me a headache after about two hours of riding.

I managed to solve some of the pressure point issues, but this one will be relegated to backup status.

This morning, I was surprised when the recall replacement arrived at my office - like I said, pretty quick turn-around time. At lunch, it took it out for a spin and was pleasantly surprised - no pressure points, good ventilation and a noticeable drop in wind noise - better on all counts than even my original Modus.

They do need to address their fit-and-finish quality control.

Funny how different helmets can feel "wrong". When buying a new helmet for the wife, I scored this Fulmer Chieftain for myself. I had to have it for all the Celtic knotwork on it. It's different than my Bell Sprint, but still a nice lid.
