I have been looking at these two and am looking for some feedback as to which is the better bang for the buck. Who out here uses what or which?
I am kinda leaning towards the autocom because it's a smaller unit.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Brian

I ordered and received the Starcom Advanced here in NC in about 5 days. The service was great and the product seems to be meeting all the claims. I've mounted it my tank bag so I can pop it on and off the bike and also use it on any other bike I might be riding. The actual unit itself is only about as big as a deck of cards. My pillion and I both wear flip-up helmets with good wind protection and are using the boom mics. I really like it so far. I don't have any experience with Autocom. I did have a Chatterbox before and didn't like very much.

I am going to put mine in my tank bag as well. A friend of mine has the Starcom. He had to get a ptt switch though as he said the vox didn't work very well for him.
We are going down to the Raid week after next down at Bryson City.
I'll be the one on the Red Sprint ST. :roflmoa2:

I have Starcom1, my brother has starcom1 advance. The advance unit is about half the size of the original, plus it has an option for handlebar mounted volume control. I think that would be nice.

A couple of things, Speaker placement in the helmet is critical. Speakers need to be mounted inline with your ear canals, 1/4" deviation is noticable. The mike needs to be very close to your mouth also.

Bike to bike depends alot on the two way radios that you choose. Best results are obtained with the same brand and model of radios on all bikes.

Since you planning on using it inside a tankbag, the original starcom1 can operate from a 9 volt radio battery which will reduce wires you need to run. Or it could be put in your jacket pocket. i don't know about battery life though. I had mine in a tankbag for awhile. It was fine, but the wires take up alot of space in there so I finally mounted mine under the seat. Your sprint probably has more room for one, maybe inside a fairing?

See you at The Great Smokey Mountain Raid!
