HJC, Bell, or something else?
Hi,
I need a helmet and liked Bell and HJC cause of what I have read about them but does anyone know if all Bells "are created equal"? Say like, what is the Bell Zephyr like compared to the Bell Arrow? or the HJC CS-R1 compared to the HJC CL-15? ...and what about the KBC Vr-2R?? Or any other brands that are tried and true?
I don't want to pay a ton but I don't want a poor quality helmet and have to find out the hard way.... Any help would be great!!
Thanks
MC

I have used HJC helmets for the last 6 years. They protected my head in one accident. They fit me, are well made and comfortable. Since we only have one head, I'd always focus on quality, comfort and fit before graphics and looks.

I heard that the Scorpion EXO-700 is great but the EXO-400 sucks, is that true?

Thanks, thats the info I like to get ;-) I agree with you, I don't care about color/graphics when it comes to safetly. What HJC style did you have?
Sorry for all the questions! I just want to make sure that I get quality/protective stuff... :-D
Thanks for all the help!

Cant speak for the 400. 700 is what I got and I do like it a lot. Next one will be a 1000, when I find one on sale and I got money in my pocket.

I have been wearing HJC helmets and find them very comfortable. I am in the market for a new helmet and just went around to all the local shops to try on the brands for comfort.
It is going to be HJC again, nothing else is anywhere near as comfortable for me. I'm sure glad I have a head shape that fits well in a lower priced helmet.

The only complaint I can offer about my CL-15 is it isn't particularly aerodynamic. My AGV cuts through the air better with less buffeting but isn't as comfy as the HJC. The visor on-off for the CL-15 is faultless, whereas the AGV is a royal pain.

+1
figure out what you want to spend and try on whatever's in that range.
all helmets that are full-face and at least DOT certified will protect your noggin similarly. . . it's the comfort, bells, whistles, and reputation that i feel really determine the increase in price.

Check out Fulmer. I got the Fulmer AFD4 (the modular one), which costs about USD150. It's worked out well for me, though I haven't done any long distance riding in it yet.
