HJC shield problem

The face shield on my HJC CL-15 has started binding when I open and shut it. It's quite annoying because I like to pop it open when stopped at a light or riding slowly in traffic. But when I try to pull it up or down it binds to the point the whole helmet shifts on my head. I can usually get it down without having to stop, but not without more struggle than I want. Yesterday one side of the shield popped out of the ratchet mechanism. Grrrr.

Anyone else run into this? Do I need a new shield? New ratchet mechanism? Some grease somewhere?

I dont know what it is but i have the same helmet and it does the EXACT same thing... Those little things really annoy you after a while. I haven't figured it out yet so i may just get a new helmet and leave that for my passanger

There is no way to live with that problem, totally frustrating. I just ended up replacing the base plates (where the visor connects) and problem gone. I don't actually remember if I replaced the shield at the same time though, I don't think so but maybe. But I'm still using that same helmet with no problems now.

Hmm I have a CL15 myself and just started noticing this happening. Now I know where to get replacement parts. Thanks!

Silicone grease is the answer. I get it at the dive shop, it's what they use to lube o-rings. Won't hurt the plastic and it's basically clear so you will stay clean. I use it on my Nolan and HJC.

Silicone grease is the best thing. However, I just put a few drops of liquid soap on mine and it has been fine for about 6 weeks now.
