Arai Phil Reid Replica
Hi Everyone,
After much deliberation I just bought an Arai Phil Reid helment to match my 2007 T100 Black & White. They need to order it in for me.
I hope it is a good helmet as I choked at the price.....holy *&**&*&. I cannot get over the price of helmets! Back in the day I remember the snap on flat face sheild was $ 2.99 and if really felt rich you could get the bubble sheild for $ 7.99. I just paid $ 89.00 for an extra dark tint sheild.
I've had Bell, Electro, Simpson, and many many SHOEI's over the years but this is my first Arai.
I'm suffering a little buyers remorse......

Phil Read Arai Helmet
I agree it's a pricey helmet but wow; It's the best helmet I've ever worn, period. (It is my first Arai so maybe this is a standard reaction to the brand.) The paint looks fantastic, the helmet is light and doesn't allow much wind noise at all. But it's expensive, $500+ USD. I'm hoping I don't have to buy another soon.

I just got my Phil Read a month ago, and had the same concerns you are having right now... thinking "why the hell did I pay that much money for this lid?".
That feeling will soon pass once you start wearing the thing. So comfortable and light, you will be smiling ear-to-ear when you're riding. Not to mention, it is a great looking helmet.
Relax and enjoy! you got a good one.

I am on my third Arai in 31 years (owned a couple of Bells and a Shoei in-between). The price gets me every time but the fit is best for me and they have great customer service if ever needed. The Arai helmets have stood up the best as far as finish and wear. Every time I look at a few $150.00 dollar helmets but just don't feel safe buying one.

you can get the exact helmet (the vector) for under-$400. i'm prob gonna go that way (maybe a white one or silver) and spend $5 on some checkered decals

get some stickers for $5
Interesting idea. Sort of like replacing that tank badge on your Bonnie with a Triumph sticker But since this was a thread about the Phil Read Helmet, meaning paying a premium for an Arai with a custom paint job (as opposed to stickers) your money saving plan does make sense -- just not for this thread. But you are right, there are cheaper Arai's out there definitely. Thanks for the research.

I just got my Phil Reid helmet in today even though there isn't a checker pattern on my new Thrux I felt it still matched it pretty well. I got it on sale at Cycle Gear for $475.00! It's much lighter than the HD helmet it replaces. Being my second Arai (don't ask why it's the second) I am sold on this brand.

I've never owned an Arai, but that particular model is definitely a beauty. Plus, I believe (in general) that you get what you pay for. I've got a feeling you're gonna love it, grayghost.
I don't do full-face helmets, but right now I too am on the fence about spending $400 for a Davida Classic Jet helmet and Garney goggles. Seems like a lot for a 3/4 helmet and goggles.

yes, it's a cool looking helmet. . . all i'm saying is that everyone is raving about how great the phil reed helmet feels and i'm just saying, fwiw, that the solid colors are just as blissful.

Great Helmet
My Phill Read with no Premier logos on has been a very apreciated helmet for the last years, now itīs interior is too old and I just keep it as a collection item, probably will be displayed at the showroom helmets exhibited in a while.
