I think that the new 1700cc Twins need their own forum! Please don't make them hang out with my 790cc twin... it would make my bike very upset. That would lead to me having to install a very pricy big bore kit and then the wife would kill me!

There is already a Non-existent 1700cc Twins forum for the Non-existent 1700cc bike.

Thanks Bob, took me a while to find it but all good now. I posted the first "rejet" question in there already. Had to get that one out of the way... even if it is turbo-charged EFI.

It was one of the reasons I reorganized the Twin Forums, the upcoming bike would be a twin - but a different one.

Should this forum be with the other Twins Forums, or should it be up with Classics and Cruisers?

Hmmm, thats a tuff one with the current level of knowledge about it. Just heard another rumor that it might be in a couple of different forum, kinda like the Bonnie,Speedy, and America but that was on here just a little while ago. With the one closer pic we got of it, it is most akin the RocketIII, IMO. But with roots in the current and past twins. If it were me, I would throw it in the Classics and Cruiser section because it will not have much in common with the current twins besides engine type. Either way would be cool, the America and Bonnie dudes/dudettes get along just fine.
Edit: Could see what they name it, Bonnie related throw it in the Twin section. If Something complete new, give them there own.

I agree, it would seem that owning any sort of cruiser-style bike is a bit more of "an interest". It's like the Cafe Racers or the T3 Forums.

... but that's just me, maybe someone else can add their thoughts.

After careful counseling with my bipolar self, I believe that the 1700 should have its rightful place in the current 1700 forum (both as a twin and cruiser and cafe racer). Though I do not have enough space in my garage for one at the current time, my better half thinks it would be best in the street (but she thinks even I should be in the street).

Keep up the good work Shawn.

Ok, now that I'm in the right thread..
I suggest to split up the "Classics and Cruisers" section and have a "classics" and a "cruisers". Put it, the speedmaster, bonnieville america, and the rocket all together. Also while we are suggesting...why can't we add a "twin tech" section, instead of a "bonnie owners" section. That way it covers most twin models, and there is no doubt of what is suppose to go where.

BottleFed's idea makes sence if it's a single model.
Dazco is probably closer to the mark.
quoted here because he replied to the wrong thread

This is by far the most logical answer. In fact, the only one IMO. It's been said more than once, supposedly from inside sources that this bike may come out in 4 different versions. I would have to think if that is true that not all of them are going to be cruisers. So before you all waste any more time thinking about it, consider that you may not know exactly what bike(s) you're making plans for.
The only Twins people that are going to have any positive interest in it are the BSM/BA guys. It's a twin and a cruiser.
I understand hat the BSM/BA guys had a semmi dead forum, maybe the addition of the "the Lump" will inject some life. Really though, if the cruisers want an active forum then they will have to be active and actually particapate.
Judging by the recent changes, you seem to be leaning to the "inclucive".
You could try puting them in the Twins section as it is now and see how it works out. I don't think it will work, but it's not written in stone. It might be a twin but the mentality of what the whole motorcycling experience means is completely different.

It's a first year model with a new platform. They are going to have issues.
They need a place where they can post and not have them buried under the weight of the Twins. while it will be rather quite in there for a while, it will make finding the stuff they need much much easier. It will also make it easier to figure out what the issues and problems are and develop a fix or workaround for them. They need a place where they can start devoping a body of knwledge.
If they want to "socialize" then they can always hang out with the twins.
I would like to think that most of us are tactfull enough to not refer to their new toy as "a bloated Lump"

You may want to ask the mods from all the forums to submitt a short list of people who are the most knowledgable & helpfull and then PM them asking if they would check in on the new forum regularly and see if they can help. There are bound to be lots of general type questions that will need to be answered.

either way, I promise to play nice with our new slightly pudgy bretheren.
