The avatar option, "do not allow avatar", will not reset or allow me to post one. And the profile pic is on my edit page but does not show up on postings. Am I missing something here?

Your profile pic will not show up on postings - it is simply an added to facts about you, i.e. your profile.
(Profile image is typically of the user, not his/her bike, or other icon that might be used in an avatar)

HTML Code will never return. For most applications, there are BB Code alternatives that will function now.

The IMG tag already has an alternative, unless I'm misunderstanding something.
