Unhappy Wiki Mod Links page inoperative - HELP!

I love the new look to the site.

But...

EEEEKK!! - both the Twin Mod and Twin Tweak pages are now full of inoperative links leading only to the home page, not to the threads they previously linked to.

I'm not sure I have the heart to start from scratch and go searching through all the past threads again right now (I don't think I'd know where to begin), so is there any way the existing links can be made active again?

Please... pretty please with icing sugar on top?!

Keef--don't despair. The mods links are all still there. Go to the wiki by clicking on Rat.Net Wiki to the left, then click on Categories at the top of that page, then scroll down to the bottom of the list and there are the mods links.

Certainly, the Mod and Tweak Links wiki pages are still viewable but unfortunately none of the links on the pages themselves lead anywhere other than back to the TR.Net home page. The primary function, ie to direct folks to the relevant threads, has been disabled. Try to use any of the links on the lists (other than those to other wiki pages or different websites) and you'll see what I mean.

Keef, that is the first thing I checked on. I had a bad feeling.
The reason (I believe) the links don't work is because the forum structure has changed and the links use the old structure.

Don't panic just yet. There are some tricks that might work.
Is shawn aware of the problem?

I had attempted to create an automated mechanism for converting URLs real-time from the Wiki to the new TriumphRat.Net Portal. However, I couldn't come up with a way to make it work 100% of the time.

I've offered to help on the Wiki, which represents nothing more than my manual efforts.

This is an issue for all external search engines as well, they will all have to update, but it's something I had to "bite the bullet" on and made a decision to migrate in the interests of functionality.

My Apologies!

J F W. You got to be kidding?

It doesn't have to work 100% as long as it doesn't break the sys. Give the Wikki people access to the module and they can attempt to find the thread. Then then change the Wiki link to conform to the new structure. We'll have to hunt for the rest.

Is there a transitional copy of TRN?
Pick the links off of the transitional copy >repost>re-link.?

This is seriously NOT FUNCTIONAL. The WIKI page were the combined tek knowledge of this entire site. What you have done is gone into a library and reordered all the books and didn't bother to make a set of call cards so people can actually find the book they need. Now we got a neat new library that is da** near useless.

I'm sorry shawn but this is a major blow it. Think warrents a re-think. This isn't some piddlely-a@@ migration issue. This is major.
Take down the site and put up the old RTN untill you get the WIKI issues sorted.

TRN the Dark ages.... might as well kill the monks since you burned the books.

I know this post is harsh.
I know this is your site to do with as you see fit but you have pi@@ed away alot of good work by some of the most valued members of this site.

I wrote and I'll put my name to it. (per standard editoral policy)

I have to admit I was pretty gutted to find out that the links could no longer be used. The compilation the the two links pages represented quite a bit of work. Actually, I lost the whole lot once before when the site went down and I hadn't made any kind of back up. This time, though, my back up is of no use as all the URLs have changed. I'm afraid it's "start from scratch again" time! In all fairness, Shawn has offered to help in the task of recovering the links on the wiki pages.

This is perhaps something to learn from and all there is for it if the wiki pages are to be rebuilt is to knuckle down and get stuck into it, despondency or not. I'm fairly busy with work right now but I'll try to do what I can as I find the time.

My only idea right now as to how best the links might be recovered is to search through the posts made by those referred to until the relevant pages are found, maybe cross-referring by subject. The links could then be placed on the Mod & Tweak Links Submissions page temporarily as they come to light. This, though, is likely to be a long job and won't help find those threads whose authors I'd referred to as "various".

If anyone feels like helping out in however large or small a way, I'd be most grateful.

The Search function in this forum is very good.

It is not that hard to find the correct threads

eg Polaris Snowmobile Belmouth (by Rexa)∞ should now point to -> http://www.triumphrat.net/showthread.php?t=25442

It's a pain but not "that" big a deal. Split it between a couple of people and you'll have it sorted in no time.

Thanks Anne - that's great.
It's good to have your support.

You're quite right - the search function is a vast improvement. I've managed to find down to Airbox Removal (Blackjack).

Here's where the list is being rebuilt:
http://wiki.triumphrat.net/TwinModSubmissions

Please feel free to add to it (or post as above or PM me) as and when you fancy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update:

The Twin Mod Links wiki page is now up and running again. Other than a few links which I have been unable to find as yet and the links to members' photo albums, everything is looking hunky dory.

I'll make a start on the Twin Tweak Links wiki page as soon as possible.

Once again, thankyou for your patience.
