Gerbing's XR12 heated gloves uncomfortable . . .

Hi all

I just got a pair of the new Gerbing's XR12 gloves. They look the business but the wires really cut into my knuckles underneath the armour making them proper painful after just 15 mins or so. I could feel the wires when I tried them on, but didn't realise they'd be this uncomfortable. Warm hands, but knuckles that are still sore the next day. I don't feel hot spots in these areas, just the wires (that show through the fleece lining) cutting in.

Anyone else have experience of these gloves or other armoured and heated gloves? Do they just need to break in and give a little in these areas, then I'll be laughing? Or have I just wasted 160?

Can anyone put my mind at rest?!

Mark

See if Gerbing will replace them. Sounds like a faulty pair.

Thought I'd post an update just in case anyone else stumbles across this thread and it helps. Gerbing's UK got back to me and said the wires showing through the fleece is normal and that the gloves should break in and mould to my hands in a few weeks and be perfectly comfortable. I haven't worn them nearly enough to see if that will happen, as it hasn't been cold enough yet, but we'll see. I'll be surprised as we're not talking mild discomfort here but real pain that is a big distraction....

I'll update again in a few months time!

That's been my experience with two pairs of Gerbings Gloves. want to really accelerate the process, ride through a rain shower and let them dry on your hands while you ride The leather will shrink, but will also soften up to the shape of your hand.

If you can't get used to them, I have a set of Powerlet, 2 years old now, bought through Pashnit, that were comfortable since new, and I certainly never was able to feel any wires through fabric.

Which ones? G3's, per chance? I have some of those on the way to me. The wires under the knuckle protectors in the XR12's were just so uncomfortable, painful, and weren't getting any better. Maybe a rogue pair, but I think G3's are the way forward.

Gerbing's customer service has been absolutely first-rate, though, as it should be with kit this expensive! Big thumbs up to them....
