Angry Does "Torque" magazine really exist?

I bought my '07 Bonnie in March and was told that upon joining RAT I get a free subscription to something called "Torque", but that I probably wouldn't receive the June issue since I'd bought my bike so close to June (two months before is too close?). Since then I've read that Triumph has ditched Torque for a new rag called Triumph or somesuch, and that some folks have received the September issue.

I've seen nothing of either mag, and my emails to Triumph continue to be ignored in the order in which they have been received. Now, I love my Bonnie, and I've heard that neither rag was anything great, but this is getting annoying.

What's the deal?

Who knows? Torque has been replaced, but a lot of us haven't still received the new publication either.

Did you register online for your membership and receive a member number at that time? What address were you using for your inquiries?

Yep, got my number and used a real email and snailmail addy. At this point, I ain't impressed. I can only hope Triumph is better about addressing warranty claims than their RAT customer service suggests.

Same here- I've been signed up with RAT for close to three years and haven't seen one issue. I did move, and even changed my address but nothing has ever come... oh well.

Got my first issue of the new "Triumph" magazine yesterday, and believe me... you're not missing anything! It looks like it was designed by a bunch of pseudo-trendy 'artistes'! Smallish pics and meaningless text that's difficult to read, notes on what the various models are wearing (not necessarily Triumph gear), all interspersed with adverts from companies such as Maserati. Sure... most of us are going to run right out and buy one of those this weekend!

Well guess I the only one that hasn't gotten the new mag. My buddy here in town got his a couple of weeks ago. Bad news is his comment was he wasn't overly impressed.

Xardoz, has your magazine shown up since your post? My copy of Triumph (emphasis theirs, in case anyone has noticed) finally arrived in the mail today.

It is a bit overly corporate, fashion-conscious and upscale (a Maserati ad for Triumph owners?!), but not nearly as bad as some of the previous comments had led me to expect.

The reason I asked about the e-mail address you used was to be sure you used the right one for RATAmerica, as they often don't respond to an inquiry sent any other way. Having signed up in March, you missed the Spring issue, but would have been in time for the June issue--if there had been one.

With a new publisher and a new distribution center handling the mailing, I guess they kind of stretched the meaning of summer a bit for Triumph Number 001. Since autumn doesn't begin astronomically for a few more days, if they can get the rest of them distributed this week, they can still claim it as the "summer" issue...even though it's the time of year when we usually looked for the autumn Torque, with a few blurbs and pictures about the new models.
