As someone who has never attended any type of bike event, (show me a crowd or a line of people, and I usually head the other way fast), I may be interested in trying one out. From what I can learn online here, there is an event this July in the Poconos, which may be the closest to me, (Fairfield County, CT). What kinds of activities should I expect? I'm trying to determine if it is the type of event that my wife would enjoy riding to as well.... Also, are there other events in this part of the country I should consider? I visited the Blue Ridge Mountain area last summer, and vowed to come back soon on two wheels...... Deals Gap would be nice.....Long way to go though :???:

I've done two now - Colorado in 2004 and the Ozarks in 2005. I greatly enjoyed both for many reasons:

Basically it's nice to mix with fellow enthusiasts and share knowledge.
I like road trips.
I get to see new parts of the US (I'm a Brit expat).
I get to ride some very nice roads - something we're a bit short of, around Dallas.

The flyers for each event are available on the Triumph website - click here.

I'll be doing the Dragon Raid this year and maybe Branson.

RAT Raids are about riding during the day and socializing with other Triumph owners in the evening. I expect that most of the people that attended the Allegheny Raid over the last 5 years will attend the one in the Poconos. The Allegheny Raid was running a little over 100 attendees the last couple years and I would expect a similar turnout for the Poconos.

There will be suggested routes and maps and people are encouraged to head off in small groups, not some giant rolling roadblock. There was a spot to meet for lunch the past few years, but how you got there was your business. Group buffet dinner and prizes on Saturday night. It's a low key fun event.

I know that I have a full day of riding planned for Saturday: a 400 mile loop up into the Catskills and back down the Delaware Water Gap. It's a great loop with many, many miles of twisties in the country.

Thanx for the response...kinda what I expected..... I have run the Water Gap and have ridden up to Hawks Nest, (restaurant is gone!), as well as side trips to Pocono raceway and upper New Jersey... I would welcome any new roads/rides in the area..... I will try to attend this years raid, see ya there......
