I am looking for a good summer time jacket to wear. I want something that is not completely mesh and found the Raptor jacket by triumph.... does anyone have any recomendations either about the raptor jacket or a different one?

I had one of the original Raptor jackets on when I had my wreck... It was very well made and comfortable. It protected very well also... When I went looking for a replacement (ripped sleeve) Triumph had the Rochester mesh and had just come out with the Raptor II... The only problem I have with either is that they are only available in black... Now, what is the WORST color for any article of clothing that you want to be highly visible and are going to wear in the heat of Summer... especially in the South?? Yes of course.... Black!
I did a lot of shopping and liked the Frank Thomas Pro Titanium Mesh (available in the US through Cycle Gear) but it's cut too small for me... I narrowed it down to the Tourmaster Intake and Fieldsheer Mach 7 (I believe, it's a new model). I was able to see and try on both at the Cycle World IMS show this past Jan..
Both were ok jackets that have removable liners that ad to their flexibility... What I didn't like about either is the sewn in foam "back protectors" on both... They just stick to your back in July and August down here... Although well made and good values, neither ones mesh was as substantial as the mesh used by Triumph on their jackets.
Stymied, I did the only option left to me... I kept a daily search of ebay motors, motorcycle apparel, and I was able to find a clean replacement of my original... $50 to my door... I'm happy once again... I also use the liner out of my cool weather Fieldsheer under it and I can ride with the Raptor at temps down to 45 degrees and then pull the liner off when it warms up...
If you're ok with black, I'd jump all over the Raptor II, it's a great jacket...

I have the Raptor jacket, pants and gloves and Alpine stars vented boots. Very cosy on warmer days and well made. On the really hot days, the black color gets to be toasty when stopped, but it's a sacrifice I'd glady make to be well protected. Feels like you're wearing shorts when you're riding.

I have the camden jacket from triumph and its perfect for chicago summers.
just a heads up...its more of a green khaki then a tan khaki despite what it looks like in the catalog.

my 1st summer with the rev it Air jacket. it's gotten up to the 90's so far. it would be nice if it had some more mesh on the lower arm for airflow but it's a light jacket with pretty good protection. i sold my joe rocket phoenix 6.0 to get this. my thinking was the allout mesh of the phoenix might not hold up as well as the material used in the air at the impact areas. and the air feels like it's about 1/2 the weight of the phoenix.

fixed income
I'm retired and live on a fixed income. Unfortunately, the COLAs since retirement have not kept up with inflation (especially gas) Found http://jafrum.com. Reallly good prices on their products. Very good/timely service. Bought their airmesh jacket and it appears to be of good quality. Has "soft" body armor for the back, elbows/arms and shoulders. Temps have been in the mid eighties, this spring, gets a little warm when stopped. Get moving and it lets just enough air go through the material to let your sweat cool off the bod (almost feels like air conditioning). The real test is soon to come, it will be close to 100 degrees next week : I plan to never find out how the protection works buuuut, you never know. Should be better than just skin if I ever need it

After several weeks of evaluation I just bought the BMW Boulder Jacket as it's light, short enough for me and most important has a good back protector. See:

I've only worn it twice this weekend so too early for any reports but IMHO it's worth looking at.

I picked up a MotoGP 3 season jacket a couple months ago and have been very happy with it. It's a mesh outer that is very cool on hot days, it also has 2 liners, one waterproof that also blocks the wind, and one insulated for the colder days. Price is also very good as it's on closeout MotoGP 3 in 1 jacket

I'm starting to look for a really light summer jacket too. Even my lightweight leather is HOT in the sun when it's up in the 80's here in LA, and we've been seeing those temps sometimes of late.
I was looking at the camden -- looks really perfect for me and my Thrux. Does it have any venting? Back pad?
I love those Rev'it Airs too -- but could that white color "go" with a modern classic rider? I think they make it in Grey and Black too, might have to go with one of those. Maybe Grey is a bit cooler in the sun than black . . . hopefully? Maybe?
