Photochromic visors?

This seems like another solution to a non-existing problem. They (photochromic visors) don't get FULL tint, so why bother? I could (and do) use a cheap pair of $6 safety glasses (ASO?) that flex well and are comfortable to wear with helmet. They are darker than ANY tinted visor and stow easily into a pocket or pack. Why on earth would anyone pay $70+ for a photochromic visor??

I do not use one nor have I done any research on them but they could be useful in certian situations. I myself wear glasses and always having a tinted visor sucks when I get stuck somewere late and have to ride home in the dark. Then when I go for a day / night ride either change the visor and be blinded during the day or not see at night due to the tint. I have a pair of prescription sunglasses but they are not very comfortable with the helmet. Just a diferent view point.

Anti fog and Photo Chromic Arai insert.

Hi, I have an Arai vector helmet and purchased an aftermarket Visor insert that sticks on the inside of the Visor and is impossible to fog up. A nice extra feature is that it is photochromic and therefore darkens a little when in the sun. Now the darkening might not be heaps , but the anti fog is better than using spit or even anti fog spray ons. Just be sure to get the ones made for your particular helmet and just rinse the visor under water, never using any detergent on the innner face as this may get between the insert and the actual visor. The manufacturer is Pro-Grip and they only cost about $20 US.

in addition to this, I have found the "Ugly Fish" sunnies to work well with the visor, though not nearly as fog resistant, they are better at shielding the eyes from sun and give just a bit more wind protection , visor up or down. The arms are soft plastic and can be bent inwards around the ears to stop them hitting the back of the helmet when you put them on which would force them forwards on your nose.

just a few thoughts on the subject as I ride all year round.

ps. havent tried the other brands of anti fog / photo chromic but I imagine they are also okay.
