I went through the dilemma of which ones to get and ended up with some Sony ones that weren't billed as 'noise canceling', but do cut the noise really well. I saw the more expensive Sony ones that you are talking about. I have what I consider a noisy helmet as well, so I'm very impressed.

I personally use the Shure Ec3, have been using them for the last 3 years. I love them, wouldn't change a thing.
They come with a variety of ear "buds". You can choose which one's fit best in your ear.
They also have a 3 year warranty.

One of my other vices is a nice set of headphones. That said, I don't have any IEMs yet. I've never really been comfortable riding and listenening. I find I'm always listening to the bike and my surroundings.
