Triumph Accessory Outlet

I had the OEM outlet installed on my 07 Bonny but the receptacle is too small to fit regular 12V cigarette type plugs. I wanted to get some Gerbing heated gloves and I'm not sure what I need that will fit/work with that outlet.

Is it a BMW style connector that Triumph uses? Or do I need a special adapter so that I can plug regular North American 12V cigarette plugs into it? Has anyone out there done it with Gerbings?

Thanks!

It's a powerlet plug. Most all european bikes use this type of connector.

You can fins all the parts required to change the plugs at the following link:

The BMW plug is what you need. I picked a couple up at the local Motorad dealer. Easy to install on my heated vest. Picked up a second for my cell phone charger too.

battery Tender into it

Does anyone know if I can plug my Battery Tender in to it. I see they make a plug for it. How does that work. You are putting power into the plug instead of getting power from it? I'm not electrical savvy.

Yes, with the proper SAE --> Powerlet adapter you can plug your battery tender into it. Works fine. I've already tried it on mine.

I did have to buy several adapters for:
- Widder (Proprietary)
- Gerbing (Coax)
- Battery Tender (SAE)

Everything works fine in the Powerlet AKA Triumph AKA BMW accessory socket, and it is a lot neater than having several different cords running out from the battery. If you need a cigarette lighter adapter for a 12v air pump or something, they are also available. My Cycle Pump is SAE, so I didn't need that.

I have the Gerbing kit and use the adapter to fit my battery tender and it works top notch. Be careful with the adapter you buy. there was an issue with polarity not being correct on older model adapters which should mostly be out of circ by now, but you never know. I went to a BMW dealer and he gave me one that is correct.

+1 on the Gerbing gloves - My only regret is that I didn't buy this stuff 20 years ago, but then again they probably didn't make them 20 years ago.

My coldest weather ride to date this year is 4 degrees F in the Catoctin mountains in Thurmont MD and I did not have either the jacket or accessories turned up on the high setting - enjoy
