Winter Warmth

Hey forum,

It's time to start looking for an extra warm yet "cool" winter jacket.

In keeping with the theme of the bike and my retro gear I really want a WWII RAF style bomber jacket, but maybe with snaps or something to keep the collar from beating me senseless.

I headed out to the Army / Navy Surplus store to hunt around today, any suggestions on a jacket that won't cost me a mint?

Personally i'd hunt for a good deal on an actual riding jacket and not a surplus item. There are a lot of deals to be had out there and many warm jackets that also offer some real protection for riding(spin pad, CE armor in shoulders and elbow area etc, 1.2 + mm leather...). (www.newenough.com) or ebay or any number of other places are good to start.

I can't remember who makes it (I think I saw it on new enough maybe??) but it was a Marlon Brando Wild One style jacket. Very old school, but had extra crash protection and had a collar you could flip up and wrap around your neck to stay warm. I'll see if I can find it again.

Warm

Not WW2 retro, but the warmest jacket I ever rode with!!! Madwe by Arizona Jeans - performance gear. Got every feature youcouldwant. Riding in 30 deg, I broke a sweat. Has a built in hood if the rain/ snow gets heavy. Got it @ JC Penny on sale Reg $129- on sale $39! Got velcro cuffs & waist. All kinds of stofage pockets etc.. Light weight as well so if it gets warm like here can wrap it up & put it on the seat/ rack. I bought this on a whim? I never (in my 40 yrs of riding) had a jacket more warm, comfortable, light, waterproof,& stylish ever!! Mine matches my helmet but thet come in various color combos I am sure. Machine washable too! Its worth checkin out even if a backup? I got a winner on that one!

Drew - FirstGear makes some nice stuff, I have there summer jacket and love it. NewEnough is an excellent place to shop for value especially if you catch one of there Clarence deals that are in your size. I bought some real nice stuff there and the service was great so since my Sidi Canyon boots were basically $260 everywhere I threw NewEnough the business.
