Raingear recommendations?
Hurricane season is here on the east coast... I've got some raingear for various other purposes, but no actual cycling raingear. Feels like time to get some... Any recommendations on features, brands, etc, or things to avoid, all greatly appreciated. I know I want high visibility and easy packability.
1 vs 2 piece?
How big is too big?
Should the inseam match normal pants? longer? shorter?
Nylon vs PVC?
Thanks in advance to all you drowned rats!

I personally like the Olympia two piece oversuit. Fits under the seat is durable and waterproof. Downside - in hot riding weather when it rains this type of suit can be very hot.

1+ vote here for Frogg Toggs. Great rain suit, breathable, light weight and packable...

I wear a "waterproof" synth jacket normally. That way I usually don't have to stop or change gear. I keep a pair of those cheap rain pants that roll up into a wallet sized bag (sporting goods store) stuffed on the bike somewhere if it downpours. Try them on in the store to make sure they fit over your clothes. They also make rain jackets that roll up too if you don't want a synth jacket.

Im really partial to the Cycleport/Motoport Aerotex Rain Jacket and pants. Ive worn this jacket and matching pants in all day pouring rain only to arrive at my destination, dry as a bone. This product works as advertised, breathable, no sweating, and 100% waterproof. They are a little pricy, but in my opinion, well worth the cost.

I've had raingear from a few different motorcycle specific brands. Right now I'm using FirstGear pants and a Gore-Tex branded jacket (it's not available for sale - I got it for answering a quiz on the Gore-Tex site, which isn't there anymore).
The biggest thing for me, especially in a jacket, is not to go too large. The balloon effect has always driven me crazy. My solution for long rain rides or when I'm on a trip is one of the Icon visibility vests on top of my raingear. It has elastics to snug everything down, and a little extra visibilty never hurts. It is a bit bulky to store though. If there's just a chance of rain I usually skip the vest.
I'd reccomend paying stealer prices for at least a jacket so you can try on a few and get the best fit with your gear. Sizing in pants hasn't been as critical for me.

I have a Firstgear "Splash" set. The jacket fits nicely over my mesh jacket and I was recently caught in a heavy rain storm for 3 hous and I was dry.

The one piece chevron suit by triumph is awesome, it has a zipper for each leg with double overlap Velcros on every zipper so no leakage. If I did not ride with textiles that are waterproof anyway I would be getting one. 99.00 Cnd so good price for a high quality suit.

Stich
... I wear my Aerostich almost all the time, so it is also my raingear... it desparately needs a wash, as the poor thing has been 2 years and 16k since its last bath... I do get the typical leakage under Extreme conditions, in the crotch because it is the two-piece suit...
I've tried separate cheapo rain suits, but they flap about too much and tear themeselves apart..
I also use the Aerostich rain glove... the vulcan ones... theses things are awesome!.. Good for riding in the chill to cut down on the wind chill...
