Which SatNav ?

Ignore this, posted it somewhere else and it got moved, and there's the same question a few entries down. I feel such a fool !!

Maybe the wrong thread for this so my apologies...

Finally moving into the 21st Century and deciding SatNav might be a useful add-on for my Tiger.

My needs are few and simple, all it has to be able to :

Let me plan my route on PC as well as on the unit
Somehow let me know which direction to go in audibly - I have no intercom, don't use my mobile on the bike but I'm happy to use both/either.
Have western europe/scandinavia maps available/included

I've read loads of reviews, seems to be a case of you get what you pay for, I'm just trying to avoid any cheap an nasty offerings.

Garmin Zumo - best bike specific (also works in auto) on the market. $$$ but like you said you get what you pay for. They have euro specific versions too.

Greetings,

I have been using the TomTom rider version2 for about 3 weeks now, and found it to be great.

It has all the functionality that you asked for, with the added bonus of coming with a Scala Rider headset, which you may use for both hooking up to your mobile phone, and also receiving audible directions from the unit.

In addition, in the UK you are lucky enough to be able to receive traffic and weather warnings upon it.

Cheers

Road Angel 7000. It includes voice commands and route planning as normal but it has the capability to run Memory Map so you can load up UK OS Maps. You don't get voice commands but you can plan a route on your PC using waypoints and then down load onto the Road Angel. I think you can upload a track log after a run to plot on a map on your PC.

They can be had for about £200 Memory Map is extra of course.

To me it represents the best of both worlds. Everyday Sat Nav with the capability for detailed route planning especially when you want to get off the beaten track.
