Not sure if I'm describing this properly, but at the local Triumph dealer, they're suggesting that I have installed the Triumph silencers that are advertised in the Triumph Accessories brochure/pamphlet.

i) Are these what people call TORs?
ii) Do these give a 10% boost in power and sound like the old Bonnevilles of yesteryear (as advertised in the brochure)?
iii) They're quoting me just under a $1,000 Cdn for silencers, installation, re-jetting, taxes, etc... This sounds a bit excessive to me or are they in the ball park?

Any help in my understanding this is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Yes, and that is a very high price for the TOR's and installation. I purchased Norman Hyde Togas, and a set of powder coated black head pipes from dealer, had everything installed, re jetted and had a K&N filter installed along with a clutch lever housing (which I cracked when my bike fell over on me .well that is another story. :-D ) The total cost for parts and labor was $869.00

Your 869.00 american exchanges to 940.00 canadian dollars...1000 is an estimate may not be so far off..may be able to negotiate a free shirt, etc to close the gap.You can only try to bargain ...jetting can either go easy or become difficult getting to right combo..not an install thing and done..Good luck and safe biking!!

The jetting depends on the sea level where you live. I live at 2500 ft and 115's work great. This was the dealers recommendations. The bike went from a sewing machine to a rocket. My dealer also recommended the Togas over the TOR's. Sound great :-D I hope you enjoy your new bike :-D

Thanks guys, starting to think that $1,000 Cdn for a pair of TORs isn't totally out if whack considering the work that needs to be done.

I paid $886 at McBride's in Toronto back in September 2006. that was for the Triumph carbon fibre silencer (a piece of junk) and the re-mapping. I switched the can to an Arrow carbon fibre unit due to leaks in the Triumph unit (two different ones).

Your price seems about right (particularly given there is little competition for Triumph service until someone at Triumph Canada wakes up and finds a replacement for McBride). I'd be careful buying a Triumph unit frankly. Does it give a 10% boost? I'm not so sure, but it sure sounds sweet.
