Posted this over on the S3 forum but probably shoulda put it here. I was set to order one o' these on-line for $20, since I couldn't find any in town and that was the cheapest I could find. Well, yesterday I went to Advance Auto Parts to get some oil treatment for the van, and there at the counter, they had a whole pile of these for $11.88.

Accu Gauge makes a bunch of different gizmos, but I was looking particularly for one with the extra length of hose, right angle chuck, and 0-60 PSI dial for fine air pressure adjustment. Best $12 you can spend, if you can find 'em. Dunno if it was just at this store or if it's a franchise-wide deal.

I've always wondered about the accuracy of inexpensive tire gauges... I have a nice one with a German name of some sort that's certified to +/- .1 psi, but it's a hassle to use due to the shape...

Dunno if I'd call it inexpensive - most places charge $30 or more which, considering you can get a pencil type gauge for a buck, is pretty pricey.

Airboss, you're right - I shoulda bought the lot. Then I coulda turned 'em around for $15 here and made some extra cash :-)

Grabbed one of these from my local Advance Auto parts store. A nice gauge for the money and much easier to use than my cheapo pencil-style gauge.

The only complaint I have is that the head-end lacks the little protrusion that allows you to bleed pressure from the valve. Other than that, a very nice piece. And the employee there said it is warranted for life.

Yeah, but you can still bleed overpressure by holding the chuck on the valve and pressing the button up by the dial. And besides, it makes a cool noise when you release the pressure in the gauge.

It must be Nationwide, I found them at my local Advance Auto Parts store.
It's the best gauge for motorcycle use I've seen. And it works good for cars too.

I put those on my sister's car after she arrived home from a 400 mile trip with 15psi in two tires, but never on a bike!

If they're the ones I've seen, they have '32' on the top, and show green when the tire 'has enough pressure'. If you read the fine print on the package though, they don't actually go red until 27psi! I'm admittedly retentive about tire pressures, but 5 psi is a huge margin of error - and 32psi is already down 4 or 6 psi for me!

I'm also a bit skeptical about their longevity - they're just cheap plastic, and since they push in the valve core (so they can get the pressure), they're the only thing keeping the air in your tires! I told my sister to keep an eye on them.

edit: Man, I'm just Mr. Negativity in this thread - sorry all!
