Have seen several posting of folks using the Bohn undergarment body armor.

Is the mesh stuff really cool under jeans???

Summer in Florida is brutal even in mesh riding pants. Looking for a cooler solution but still one that offers protection.

Are your mesh pants perchance black? Getting light colored mesh pants makes a huge difference on hot days.

In my opinion, the Bohn armor is a really good start, but not adequate protection if paired with regular jeans. You'll get impact protection, but no abrasion protection. Also, if you crash, I have a feeling the mesh holding the armor in the right places would dissapear shortly after the denim, so the armor would no longer be in place.

I can't judge; I stay in if it's above 100 or so, but when I got new mesh pants last year that had large red sections, they were far cooler then my black ones. With a pair of gym shorts underneath, they were also cooler than regular or kevlar lined jeans... Of course, I do look like a Power Ranger, but I figure I'm going to look stupid no matter what I where, so there's no point in worrying whether my gear makes me look more stupid...

Oh yeah, there black.

The problem here is it's so dang humid in the summer. Stand still and water just run's off of you.

I know Brosch makes a light weight pant with some kevlar inserts. Those are the only ones i've seen

I know what you mean. Kevlar is very very warm in the summer. TourMaster/Cortech have a pair of pant that have perforated leather inserts - they're being discussed in a thread around here - maybe those would be better.

On a really hot day, I still haven't found anything that sucks less than mesh. I also haven't tried the Bohn armor, so I'll shut the hell up!

I have the Lycra Bohn Adventure pants that I wear under Draggin jeans when I am going to be running around or doing other things besides riding. We haven't had any really hot days yet, but the combo I am sure will be comfortable to at least 85 which we had a few weeks ago and it worked great so I feel pretty good that the mesh pants will be even cooler.

Rustbucket is correct - I wouldn't feel good in regular jeans with just the armor, but with the combo I use I feel well protected. When just going riding I still wear my A-Stars.

I have been very very happy with the Bohn since I bought them and do recommend them. It is a good way to get what I believe will be adequet protection if used with sliders or draggin jeans and not have to wear your leathers walking around or in a restaurant.
