Hey, I just recently bought my first bike. It's a 1999 Triumph Legend 900 and I love it still learning how to ride, but it going well. I have had the bike for a couple weeks now and when I bought it, it was didn't have a speedometer of tachometer. I called the triumph dealer and for a whole new gauge cluster and it was $911.35. Needless to say I don't have that kind of money.

My question is are there any aftermarket speedometers and tachometers that will work with this bike. It's a mechanical speedometer and I still have the cable for the speedometer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'd keep an eye on ebay. As an interim solution a $20 bicycle speedometer will work just fine, although you'll have to go through a bit of a headache to get it calibrated (you have to measure the distance your bike moves per wheel revolution - roll it so the valve stem is down, roll it forward until it's back down, and measure).

I don't know much about the Triumph twins, but on the sportbikes parts tend to be shared across multiple models. If that's the case it could make your search a lot easier.

Also, bikebandit.com sells new OEM parts for significantly less than dealers. They also have useful parts schematics.

I'm don't mean to hijack this guys thread, but I had to comment here. If BikeBandit is 'Significantly Cheaper' than your dealer; you need to find a new dealer! BikeBandit quotes 'Suggested List Prices for Triumph' to the penny. I've checked them a few time for parts and the prices were 'Exactly' what a dealer would quote right out of the book. A good dealer will do better too.

If you don't mind a non stock setup; I ran across THESE while checking for a new regulator for someone. I think they look real nice with very simple mounting brackets supplied and the best thing was they seem real reasonable on the pricing. The most expensive unit listed is $199.00.

There is also Dakota Digital but the pricing is a joke IMHO, and they look to be catering to the chopper side of the market. The simple oval units looked good, but at $625.00 then you may need a few adapters I feel they are ripping you off.

The other option is used. I would recommend Triumph Ant. Lots of people have used them and are very pleased with their service. They specialize in Triumph and do lots of custom swaps so they know which models will swap or work on other models. They are also shipping world wide on a regular basis so they have that covered for you as well. I'm sure you could find a salvage yard here that might have the part, but these guys have the know how to go with it. As mentioned always check E-Bay for a set if you don't need it right now. I think if you need to remain stock that the Triumph Ant is going to be your best option. I'm pretty sure they will guarantee the parts they send you and you will be sure to get all of the brackets and miscellaneous bits you may need at the same time and be done with it.
