Since I use my bike for trackdays and other spirited riding, something like a Stomp Grip tank pad makes sense. Sliding around on the tank isn't much fun when you are in a corner at some unnamed speed. Only problem is I don't like what Stomp Pads look like. They are clear vinyl, so the color isn't an issue, but they look like a whole lot of suction cups. I get enough grief about being a squid without my tank looking like a tentacle. Tank Treds are a similar product, except the vinyl seems a lot softer and the nubs are a lot smaller. The vinyl is also clear, but because the texture is much finer, the pad is a whole lot less visible. The texture is a bit like suede, so I expect it will work very well with leathers. I will let you know how it works once I have a chance to try it out on the track.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Cool - I'm looking forward to your impressions. I've been putting off getting something for a while now. It certainly is disconcerting during normal riding. During an emergency stop, I think I may be reducing my chances of having kids... Of course maybe that's not a bad thing...

Maybe not a bad thing, but I can think of better ways of accomplishing the same end!

The stuff is amazingly sticky. I don't know how it works, but it seems like it will stay fairly clean, too. They include a little piece of the stuff to put on a cell phone, and the phone won't slide around on a desk or dashboard at all. It is almost like a really, really sticky tire.

Hey Will -

How's it holding up? I still haven't gotten around to ordering something yet...

(I can't install it until I hit my tank with a clay bar anyways, and every time I think about that it seems like a good time to go riding... )

It does seem to be turning a bit darker with time, so you see it. I haven't figured out how to wash it effectively, so maybe I just won't. It works as advertized- no sliding around if you are hanging on with you knees. I like it a lot.
