So my brother and I are going on a trip in May ... we figured it'd be handy to be able to speak to each other on the road. So after some research and realizing that one can spend fairly sizable amounts of money on comms, we decided to try the economy route first. I ordered a set of headsets from Clearercom.com (Tork Sport model as we both have fullface helmets) and a set of Motorola SX800R two way radios. They are claimed to have a 16 mile range .. right. I'll be happy with 1 to 2 miles on the highway. The headsets come with a PTT switch and the microphone is supposed to be a noise cancelling model. We shall see. I'll post some reviews after they get here and we get a chance to try them out. Until then .. if any of you have any experience in this area it would be most appreciated.

Check out Firefox throat mic microphones. Don't know about them, but like mic idea.

My wife and I used a set of cobras. She was in the explorer and I on my bike. I had a throat mic to eliminate the static and an earbud. you could communicate up to 5o mph but after that the wind noise was too great.

Radios and headsets are here ... preliminary tests are good. Headsets fit within the helmets with no discomfort or change to helmet fit. Push To Talk buttons work fine and almost fit perfectly on teh bikes. Radios work good .. next test will be at highway speeds ... must wait till it isn't raining for quality test.

You might consider the system at http://www.collettcommunicators.com/. I've used the intercom option, the cell phone attachment and MP3 player attachment, but not the bike-to-bike (with a compatible system) capability. My only complaint is insufficient volume to allow for earplugs. Regarding wind noise picked up by the microphone, I've often had to advise cell phone callers that I couldn't write anything because I'm on my bike at highway speed. They had no idea!

saw this on another Tiger..

http://www.autocomamerica.com/active_plus.cfm

Talked to him about it and he loves it. I have talked to him on the cell phone and couldn't tell he was on a bike.. I'm trying to decide what all I need to go with it..
