anyone recommend a decent lift. ive read that the craftsman ones are junk, i was in walmart and they had a gm(general motors)brand lift, for about seventy dollars. pep boys also had one around same price. would love to spend under 100.00 if possible. any advice would be great.

Where did you read the negativity about the Craftsman lifts?

They've actually gotten lots of good ink on a number of forums here. I've been very impressed with mine.

They tend to go on sale periodically, so if interested, watch your Sunday newspapers ads.

I agree with tba-golfer on this.

I have a Craftsman lift and it has been great.

There are 2 models of the craftsman lift, one in aluminum and the less expensive (and heavier) steel model.

You cannot tell me that ANYTHING that Wallymart sells is better quality than Craftsman, and I don't care what name it has on it.

I was just looking at the Torin jack (all aluminum and weighs in at 57lbs) on the Costco website.
I checked this out before and couldnt find any info on it.
Here is the website:

i found the negative reviews right on the sears-craftsman website, there was about 20 reviews and all negative. most said something about a seal blowing out and not being able to lift. yes i agree i only buy craftsman tools. something i was brought up with. i agree with buying craftsman over wally mart any day but from the reviews like i said, i am questioning craftsmans quality lately.

FWIW I doubt you'll be taxing the jack as some... other... brands would.

That said, a I have a craftsmen jack, and two friends have them too. One has a Harley of one kind or another (they all look the same to me), and the other a GL1300 Goldwing. Neither are little bikes. I use mine for my XS650, which is a lightweight compared to theirs, but weighs a solid 400 lbs. I haven't heard of any problems, personally...

One thing about negative reviews is that people who have problems are far more motivated to comment the satisfied consumers such as myself...

I've been reading a lot of negative reviews on the craftsman site recently, but have yet to have a problem with anything I own, I my tools are pretty much all craftsman... I've got more confidence buying from them, and will until I experience a problem.

The Craftsman aluminum lift has more positive reviews. It's currently on sale. I bought one but I haven't used it yet, so I can't comment on it, but I expect to be pleased. It's light enough that it can easily be carried around, one more thing I don't have to wrestle with.
