Good choice on the aluminum jack.

I have the steel version and after 2 years it stopped lifting at all. One of the inner seals went out. And sears offers no parts or repair on this jack at all. They told me to buy a new one. Fortunately the harbor freight jack uses the same pump as the craftsman as do many of the Chinese jacks. But HF sells parts for the pump and has a nice manual online of the internals. So I was able to fix the jack.

I won't buy anything at sears that doesn't have a lifetime warranty and the jacks are only a year. If i get the same warranty as any other place then price wins out.

Just my thoughts.

i didnt realize until after i asked for advice on lifts that sears offered the professional version in lifts. every time i went to there site the steel lift just came up. then after about the tenth search it went right to the aluminum lift. had i known beforehand that this one existed i would have bought it without asking any advice. well, i bought the aluminum professional lift last night, it was on sale for 135.00 from 160.00. they had both lifts side by side and the construction and quality looked much better on the aluminum one than the steel one. off course for double the price it should be. right out of the box its ready to go. looks completly solid and well put together, what you should expect from craftman.

I have the Sears red jack and have never used it.
The $20 bike life I built works great for oil changes and chain cleaning.

If you are willing to spend some money (watch ebay, etc):

And, what I have (not really portable, I'd call it moveable) http://www.liftrack.com/

On ebay there are Chinese made lift tables (copies of the ones you see in a llot of service bays).
