Hello all,
When I went through my MSF class the instructor was talking about a brake light flasher doohicky-thingermerbober.

I bought a "Rotating Pulsating Red LED 1157" today thinking this was what he was talking about and I'm not sure it is/was. This thing changes rotation direction every two seconds and when the brake is applied it flashes. When the brake is released it goes back to flashing and rotating. It seems like it might be more annoying that beneficial.

I saw one once where the light was solid under normal operation and when the brake was applied it started flashing quickly then slowed to a solid brake light after a couple seconds.

Anyone know who makes the latter one?
Any thoughts about flashing brake lights?

Hey zmillin...

Saw a setup a couple of years ago and ended up putting them on my bike. The unit is made by "hyperlite", it's a double row of bright LEDs that are normally on, when you apply the brakes, they flash vey brightly for about 5 seconds and then turn solid. Release the brakes and they revert back to normal running brightness. I bought 2 modules and mounted them so they bracket my license plate. Think at that time the cost was right at $100.00. Check www.hyperlites.com for more info.

Google 'brake light modulator'. The brand name I remember seeing is Back Off.

I think you mean this:

Brake Light Modulator

I have one and like it. Anything that makes the brake light more noticeable is a good thing. It comes with a spare bulb, and it fits directly into your taillight socket with no other wiring or installation involved.

ooooo...no hardwiring and the bulb can be replaced. I like that one better than the Back off XP.

Thanks!

The only problem with that one is that some of us have _two_ brake light bulbs...

Just be careful when you put the bulb in. Managed to bust a lead on the first one. Good thing they send a spare
