I am planning a trip from Ohio to Connecticut for once it gets consistently nice out. I decided to bite the bullet and make the ride rather than trailering it. Other than the actual planning of the route (feel free to message me about that) I compiled a short list of things I need to get.........

First thing, Anyone know of a good yet inexpensive pair of panniers that would work on a speed four? I travel light so they don't need to be huge.

Second.. Any reccomendations on a helmet headphone set up to listen to an MP3 player?

And lastly, Anyone know of a good pair of textile or mesh pants that fit over normal pants? Armor is a plus.

Thanks in advance

You cannot beat earbuds for the mp3s.

Pa has some most excellent roads. It will take you 6 hrs to cross on the slab or 12 on the fun roads. Last year returning from mid-ohio I took the slab to Snow Shoe then hit the fun stuff. I can give you a fun ride across the eastern part and drop you on I-84

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going to cross PA on 6 for the most part. I plan on taking about three days to make my way to CT

nsb748--- Let me suggest an alternate route across Pa. Rt 6 is OK but a lot of trucks and cars. I ride out there a lot.

Try this

- Rt 6 to Sheffield to rt 666 south
- 666 to Barnes to 948
- 948 to Ridgway to 120 east
- 120 to Renovo. A couple of miles past Renovo is Hyner Run State Park Turn left and take park road (very Twisty) up hill to 44 s
- 44s to 973e
- 973 to 87e
- 87 will dump you back on 6 outside of Scranton.

These are all excellent roads through the mountains with great scenery and no traffic. If you're making it a 3 day trip we stay at a place in Renovo called the Sportsman Inn just east of the town center. They have cheap rooms, a bar and a good restaurant.

Have fun

Check out the Shure earbuds. Pricey but worth it.
Best Buy carries a couple models now. I personally have the E3c and really dig em!

I've never really been able to get any type of ear bud style things to stay in my ears. Anyone know of any other type of earphones that either fit into or under a helmet?

G'day,

If you want some REALLY good listening gear then check out Earinc. I have used there monitor plugs on the bike and on stage for over a year. They are comfortable and work.

They have a large range so hunt around the site a bit to find what you want. Then find your closest dealer, especially if you want individually fitted ones. As they fit in your ear there is no problem with helmets. In fact, they make them for motor racing sports.

A friend of mine has helmet speakers made by Aerostich. Not at all expensive or intrusive, and he likes them.
