Can anyone recommend a rear wheel stand for the 2005 bonneville? I've seen them for most of the sport bikes but none for the Bonnie. :???:

I bought one of these (use the URL below) a few years ago for my first Harley, an FXDX. Was happy to see that it works great with my new Bonneville. About as simple as they come... if you lift the bike just behind where the sidestand is bolted to the frame, you can easily tilt the bike to get either wheel off the ground.

Highly recommended unless you want to install a centerstand, which are more $$ and I hear a pain to install.

Sears, Harbor Freight, etc have a great bike lift for under 100 bucks, I think I paid $70 for mine on sale, and I'd have paid $170 and still been happy.

here's mine:

I am not sure where to look but a few months ago some one posted pics and instructions to build one with a piece of wood and a length of pipe to do the same thing as the first one in the pics. I think it was in the twins hang out or the bonnie forum.

Bike lift is a good option. If not, get the center stand installed.

The center stand is not hard to install, just the springs, but there's plenty of experience here to help with that, and when it's done, it's done.

I have the center stand and the Sears aluminum lift, because it's much lighter than the lift shown above--I can carry it easily--and it seems to be better-made, but it costs twice as much.

My cheapskate neighbor uses a few pieces of dimensional lumber of a suitable size, screwed together, covered with s***** carpet, and with the pipe handle, as described above. It works surprisingly well, and the cost is in the single digits or less, depending on what you have lying around.

I think the only trick for the wood thing is to get the dimensions right: Looking from the side, one side of the wood block has to just slide under the bike, and the other side is a bit longer to lift the frame a couple inches off the ground when the pipe is pulled. It works like a center stand.

Edit: The starred-out word is s-c-r-a-p. Unbelievable.
