((( Thread Moved From Trips to Gear )))

Hi I don't know where to post this so i will try here and on the Sprint forum.
Recently I caved in and got myself a cell phone I got a Samsung 640 with built in camera and lots of other stuff ie games ..... the phone have Blue tooth technology which is one of the main reasons I picked it in the line up.
From what I understand BT is voice activated and a head set can be mounted inside the liner in a full face helmet.
Does anyone here have any first hand experience with this?
There are lots of different head sets available on the market if anyone have any suggestions please let me know.
i want to make sure I get something with good quality both for using the phone/intercom system bike to bike and also for listening to music.Since I never had a suitable bike for any longer distance riding this is all new to me.
Suggestions are welcome
mikey

A few companies now make BT helmets that come with bluetooth already built into the helmet. No messing with liners, although I know bluetooth sucks up a lot of phone power if it is constantly active.

Great idea for long rides... wonder if you can even make it work with some sort of radio or mp3 device?

Check out Nolan Helmets. They're offering a "Blue Tooth" ready helmet now. I don't know anything about Nolan helmets, or Blue Tooth, other than what I've read, but it does sound interesting.

Let us know what you find. :???:

I have the Scala rider for bluetooth when I am riding. It is a great little set up, it mounts to the helmet and the speaker just velcro's to the inside where ever you want it to. the microphone just bends down and you can adjust where it sits by moving the whole setup. It has had great battery life lasting for days on end even with heavy use. here is their website cardo scala rider

I was looking over some new products by Scala Rider (part of the company that owns Midland Radio -- and marketed under that name in Europe). They have a system that will intercom with your passenger in BT as well. It will link up with several devices, which I noticed recently on a standard on the ear BT ear piece the other day (look at Walmart at the packaging to see what it says).

I think that is a fuller implementation of the BT standard. BT is supposed to link up with a series of devices, as BT was created as a local (office space) wireless networking standard for computer peripherals. It didn't pan out for that reason as USB had practical advantages, including buss speed and security. But BT can easily handle data streams that have voice density levels.

I also use the Scala Rider, which I got recently. Very happy with it so far.

It adjusts the volume according to ambient noise - which is handy :-D

Not sure about listening to music on it though, as it only had one earpiece.

I have a tre650 PDA phone that has Bluetooth and I have been waiting for a small set of BT ear buds because I don't want to listen to tunes in mono (one ear).

Nolan helmets may have solved that but I haven't looked. I use BT to use my phone as a wireless modem to connect my laptop to the internet when I'm not near a LAN line or I'm out in the world. BT rocks!

Check out Shure iC4 headset at http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/P...eadset_content

This is a pricey headset that will allow you to plug into two devices and switch between them. NOT BT but excellent sound quality (I own a set).

Just some food for thought.

Zmilon, can you use the microphone when you are riding on that system?
