Engine Bars vs. LSL Crash Pads?

Newbie with a silly question. Obviously, I don't want to drop my bike but since my Bonnie is my first bike I have heard it is pretty much inevitable as I learn. However, I want to minimize the damage done to her. Does anyone have any experience or preference over engine dresser bars or LSL crash pads for protecting my bike if I lay her on her side?

Dresser bars: http://www.newbonneville.com/html/re...ine_guard.html

LSL Crash Pads: http://www.british-customs.com/lsl-t...rash-pads.html

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I would expect the bars to provide better coverage, also gives you a place to mount highway pegs (if that's your thing).

To some perhaps they don't look as good ;-)

i have LSL crash pads...someone said on the Twins forums, that since the LSL pads use the same screws (M6 I think) that, the pads would rip off in a bad crash.

I can see this too...just how LSL pads mounts to the frame...

Looks to me that the LSL pads mount to the engine case bolts, at least the pics I've seen.

These would look great and protect things...but they'd have to be BLACK!
