Quick Lock System...

I came across this new locking system (ok, it's at least new to me, but not necessarily be something that no one's ever seen before) that locks your tank bag to (basically) your gas tank cap, and wanted to know if anyone's ever seen this before.

Have a look at the pics.

Here's the play by play:

There are three pictures of the mounting ring around the gas cap (they provide you with longer screws and you simply replace your stockers for the longer one), and then there's a picture of the hot shoe with wires (there are two versions, one with power and one without) which will provide power into the tank bag (for recharging things or power a GPS) and another showing how the bag mounting system works. There are also a number of adapters that will provide you with a 12 volt socket (like the cigarette lighter socket in a car) as well as optional plates that will allow you to mount your GPS above your tank bag. Looks like a pretty decent system, and I'm thinking of being the first one on my block with one of these bad boys! ;o)

Oh, and here's the URL for the Polo motorcycle accessories shop, here in Germany. Oh, it's all in German, by the way: http://www.polo-motorrad.de/dmc_mb3_...che.448.0.html

I have that system, works great. Bags Connection makes it, and it is also used on some of the Held bags. Easy install, easy use, highly recommended :

Actually, I was thinking about purchasing it, but what's really been holding it up is that it's kind of pricey (at least for the bags). I wasn't aware that this was available in North America, since there's only one company that's even selling this line in Germany (at least in the larger motorcycle shops), and that would be Polo (see my first post for the URL). But I can see that in the long term, this would definitely be worth the investment.

Garyhjd,

Do you have the powered version, or the non-powered version of this setup? Have you ever had any problems with seating the bag or the anything else with this?

UPDATE!!!!:

I have purchased this quick lock system and all that I can say is, WOW!!! I should have done this ages ago! I have the powered system, and it works like a charm! My only concern would have to be with running the flat cable that provides power to the coupling ring, itself. I wish that there was an easier way to run this cable (it's a flat cable that runs from the back of the horse shoe shaped bracket towards your intrument cluster and under to your battery) do this, but it's a small price to pay, for being able to run all of my electricals (recharging the whole mess of them, or just running my GPS, via the special bracket and possibly my MP3 player, and...).

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Pictures to follow.
