Was cruising around a couple days ago when I saw a black triumph heading in the opposite direction. Only thing I could catch was the chrome and white badge on the tank, so in true form, I quickly pulled a u-turn and proceeded to chase him down.
After a couple turns and a straightaway (a cop was between us for most of the hunt believe it or not) I finally got directly behind him, a couple car lengths away. By that time, I saw him straighten up and immediately turn his head all the way around to see what was behind him, he must have a good eye for Triumphs.
I pulled up beside him at the light and the smile on his face and mine must have been priceless. My black 09 beside his black 69.
Running down the street we hit a couple lights, every time we came to a stop we were chatting it up until I finally asked if he wanted to pull over at a Timmies for a quick look. He definitely agreed and we slowly rolled down the next couple of blocks with I am sure more then a few cars waiting patiently behind as we took are time.
To sum it up, his name is Rick, very nice man , gotta be in his 60s. Told me he had not owned a motorcycle since his 75 Bonneville, and has not rode in 25 years up until he bought that bike restored 3 weeks ago for $4000!! Had 1500 miles on it, almost less then mine. Today was the first day he has been out riding "legally".
The bike was rebuilt by a gentleman I know out in Waterdown, another Rick at Highway Cycle, who works almost exclusively on BSA, Triumph and Norton. Guys in the area would surely know him, if you don't he would be a valuable person to know. I owe him big time for his generosity and patience.
All in all a great experience, his bike was awesome, the hunt was awesome, and he was a genuinely nice man, glad to have met you and your bike.

Sorry about the pictures, only had my BB on me at the time and just discovered the light settings were on flourescent, so they are kinda whitey.

EFI tank range?

First tank, the light first appeared at 135 miles and I filled up at 165. Worked out to 53 mpg (imperial) which I thought was pretty good.

Second tank, light first came on at 98 miles, and I filled up at 111 to only get 43mpg (imperial)

That's a big difference! I would be interested in other people's experiences. Does fuel economy improve with more miles? I have just over 1000 miles now.

Long term scrambler ownership?

I have had my Triumph Scrambler for 18 months. Whilst thats not very long, for me, prior to that i had a succession of bikes, sometimes for no longer that a few months.

I have used it only for sunny day riding and leisure miles, with just a short few commutes thrown in.

I'd be interested in anyone who has done over 12 months on a Scram and their experiences?

I got mine in April 2008 and it had just 2,000 miles on it as a 2 year old bike. I have put 5,500 miles on the bike and serviced it myself mainly.

Most appreciated mod. was a pair of Metzeler tyres - transformed the handling .

Most desired mod. probably some Ikon shocks (rear) . Also I'd like to get a cheap Arrow system and do a paint job on the tanks maybe.

Major criticism? Its a little heavy (but once on the move it lightens up into a sweet machine).

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Just picked up a gift for myself today. A new, to me, 2008 T100. I was grinning the entire 2 1/2 hour ride home from picking her up :D. As an additional gift, she decided to welcome me to Triumph ownership by leaking from the cam cover and spewing oil all over my sprocket cover and side cover. If you look close you can see the spray pattern on the side cover in the photo. :( I can see this is going to be an interesting relationship already.
