After getting my bike back from the dealership for service... There is a fairly steady drip of gas coming from two Thin rubber hoses that appear to attach to the tank amd terminate into nothing facing straight down. They are zip tied in place so it doesn't look like they are supposed to be plugged i to anything but they are both dripping small amounts of gas.

My gas tank now makes a sort of suction/pressure release sound when i open it too...

.. Any ideas?

I will post pic's when i get back home but this is annoying with the dealer being closed today and tomorrow...

Thanks,
Jason

When running at a constant speed / rpm between 4000 and 5000 RPM there is a constant, minor but annoying hesitation. I just barely detect it on the tach. I get a very smooth response when accelerating with no sign of this hesitation. Since I prefer to cruise at 5000 RPM this is spoiling my ride. I had the dealer check it out when they were doing the drag link recall work and they didn't detect any problem. Are my expectations too high? Suggestions?

hey guys, i'm thinking about an ST purchase while the good deals on leftovers are still available, i got to ride a GT at the Indy Triumph demo ride last weekend and was quite taken by it. it was comfortable, stable, with great grunt. twas my first time on the 1050 triple motor and i'm quite impressed, (i currently ride a bonneville) though after much online research and review reading it sounds like the GT isn't quite the handler that the ST is, which is no big surprise considering the nearly 4 inch longer swingarm and the 50 pound weight increase.. so, though i've yet to ride one, i'm thinking ST for reasons of sport and price, but my question to y'all is regarding pillion comfort on the ST? i've read it can be a task for the passenger to get on and off the thing, (my wife is quite short, but slim and agile). her approval is crucial to the purchase as my reasoning to her is that we could finally take long bike trips together, and with this bike I would not be so inclined to pine away for a 675 daytona...
anyway, can you guys give me some opinions or some idea about comfort? good for a day? a weekend? an hour? i realize that this is all very subjective but any input would be very greatly appreciated! thank you very much, Andy Dxon

Have a 2004 Sprint now for 18months or so. Goes great and its great to be back on bikes after 30 years!!

Have an intermittant problem with the speedo. Doesn't go, then will go. Found if I move the bike backwards after start up, and it records a speed, then its right until I turn the bike off again.

I then find it may be working or it might not be at the next start up. Anyway its a B. nuisance. Sometimes I have to stop, start, stop, start the motor 4 or five times each time rolling the bike backwards to intiate the speedo.

The shop has looked at it a few times and the sender is all aligned correctly. Anyone struck this problem before??

I'd love to get to the bottom of this.

Just finished a great Triumph road trip on my Sprint along with the wife on her Street Triple. Basic route was from PNW to Eastern Colorado and back. This was the 1st time we've done anything more than a 1 night stay away from home on the bikes so the learning curve was fairly high for both of us. I had Givi 41L cases mounted and they were packed FULL! Things I noted about the Sprint and accessories used:

+ Great bike for mountain climbing. I love cutting past all those Harleys in the twisty passes! Plenty of power.

+ Zumo with Telferizer mount. Awesome, simple design.

+ 45-55 MPG depending on terrain and winds. Speeds between 70 and 80 MPH.

+ Bead Rider seat cover kept my nuggets from toasting.

+ Trident exhaust note that always had people commenting about the "perfect note".

+ Kaoko throttle lock. Saved my right hand from certain death on the longer legs.

+ Givi 41's and SW-Motech quick mounts. Great traveling companions and easy to remove for short trips. They don't blend in well with the bike, though.

+ Garmin Zumo 550. Easy to operate touch screen with an MP3 playing capability.

+ Westone 1 earphones. Seals ambient noise like an earplug and provides pretty good sound from an audio source. Best at midrange and higher frequencies. Comes with lots of different earpiece styles and sizes and an inline volume control if desired.

- Triumph gel seat starts destroying my arse after 50 miles. There SHALL be a custom seat done before the next road trip. The bones on my rear actually hurt.

- MRA Vario windscreen not as effective as I'd hoped. If riding at 80 MPH with a 20 MPH headwind my helmet (shoei rf1000) would buffet so bad I had to tuck my head on the tank no matter where I set the variable windscreen. Maybe this is a normal thing for the design?

- Stock front tire cupped badly at 12K miles. Bridgestone BT20. Why? Hope you can see the bumps developed in the pic. Is this a normal wear characteristic of the tire? Got quite viby at the end of the ride.

- Cooked shins. Depending on which direction the wind was coming from. At 80 MPH I could tell which side the wind was blowing from by which shin was hot. Not a big deal until stopped in traffic. I wear textile riding pants and Triumph boots.

- Mapsource software for the Zumo. Completely not user friendly for such an otherwise great piece of equipment. Why can't Garmin team up with Google? I gave up trying to build and load a route to the unit while in a hurry.

Overall, had a great experience and can't wait for the next opportunity. I want a different seat next time for certain. The rest of the negatives are pretty minor.

Hi,

This is basically the same post I put in the intro area but the question is probably better suited here.......
I'm nearly a Triumph owner. Been looking for a nice Tiger 1050 at the right price for a while but now thinking about the Sprint......can't decide and need your help!

I'll do a mix of weekend riding (1 & 2 up), and commuting 70 miles a day (motorway and city mix). 5'10". I like the high sit-up-and-beg riding position which the Tiger definitely gives. I hate a crouched forward full sports bike position although I enjoyed the short spin I had on a Daytona. I think a ride on a friends SV650 ruined sportsbikes for me!

Where does the Sprint fit?! Relaxed sports position? I know I have to test one but I was curious to get some owners thoughts.

Thanks
