This Cable ok?

Hi all,
Before crucifying me I bought this cable before signing up to this forum.

Since then I've noticed a post on a good known source and also testing to see if your cable is OK,.

What’s not clear if it must have the exact details? For example my cable comes up with FTDI, but also serial to USB. So not sure if ok to use?

Anyway screenshots show the details..

My guess is no, but it has been made clear that which cables work seems somewhat random. You see how it shows "USB<->Serial" for the bus reported? That is the same generic designation that was given to the first cable I had and it didnt work.

Save yourself the headache and just order a cable from Lonelec so you know it works.

Cheers.
Yeah I thought the USB<->Serial" for the bus might be an issue comparing it to the Lonelec screen grabs.

I did try it yesterday. Could read save the curren mapping, change thermo fan and idle, but would could not get the TPS reset to work.

Could be result of the cable.
I'll try to get my $$ back and get the correct cable..

Before you change your cable just check out the correct procedure. For the 1050 motors you need to use the Reset Adaption procedure: http://www.tomhamburg.net/TuneECU_En/tests.html

There are also other variables that come into play, such as whether you have the 02 (Lambda) sensor still connected to your bike?

Such issues as Reset Adaption have been dealt with many times on this forum. Use the Google custom search function facility at the top left of your browser or go carefully through the TuneECU User Guide: http://www.tomhamburg.net/TuneECU_En/index.html

HTH

Yeah thanks.
I've done all that... before making this post.

I'll try again. As I could have got the order wrong. (no harm in trying again)

This is what I tried..

From the manual
"Reset Adaption Keihin only - Triumph models
After downloading (Fig. 12), a reset of the adaption is required.
Turn off and on the ignition, wait ten seconds and turn ignition off again.
Now turn on the igniton again.
Wait until with the connection re-established with TuneECU proceed :-

<Menu> ECU Reset Adaption
Then start the engine and let idle until the “TPS” status indicator (in the status bar) changes to green (after 10 to 15 minutes).

If the green indicator does not alight do not worry too much. Rather use the well-documented factory-recommended '12 minute' tune (or better adaption reset) routine:

Sagem EFI 955i Engines

1. Ensure bike is seeing a closed throttle position
2. Bike in neutral
3. Coolant temperature between 88-96c [190-204f]
4. Minimum air box temperature of 21c [70f]
5. Let bike idle for at least 30 seconds

Keihin EFI 1050 Engines

1. Ensure coolant is at ambient temperature
2. Start engine and allow it to warm without touching the throttle until the fan comes on
3. Leave the engine to idle for a further 12 minutes

Note: The above reset adaption procedures do not apply to the Daytona 600 or on those EFI-equipped bikes which no longer have the o2 (Lambda) sensor connected.

If your experience is anything like mine, you will be able to read and save the current map with that cable but will run into issues when it comes to downloading a new map.

Definitely try to get a full refund and order up a Lonelec cable.

OK. Tried the Reset Adaption procedure once again. Still did not register green for the TPS in TuneECU.
So I'll try the alternative method.

Got a reply from the seller on eBay, and organising to return the cable for money back...
