another driver question for tune ECU

hi all
i have steadily worked my way through all the posts her about installing and uninstalling drivers over the last month.
I have bought 2 different odb2 adapters, in case the first was faulty.

but i still cannot install the drivers on my samsung NC10 netbook (windows xp).

i have downloaded the drivers and extracted to a folder.
when i open this folder i see three folders(amd65, i386 and static) and the 2.inf files. and their setup files.

however, when i plug in the dongle and go through the correct driver instal procedure i cannot see the .inf files

ie i browse to the folder with the extracted files and all i can see are the 3 folders(amd65, i386 and static), and nothing else the .inf files do not appear.

this is driving me round the bend, can anyone advise? please?

Step by step.....

- Download the latest drivers from the FTDI site (WHQL Certified 2.08.24 Available as setup executable http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20824_Setup.exe )
- Download the FTDI-uninstall-utility from the TuneECU page ( http://www.tuneecu.com/Tunes_in_Hex_...aller_v1.4.zip )
- Disconnect your computer from the Internet.
- Uninstall the old driver with the FTDI-uninstall-utility (cable must be connected with your computer)
- Remove the cable from your computer
- Execute the setup.exe from the driver
- Plug the cable into the computers

If the cable is correct and intact, then your computer should the FTDI cable now detect and also TuneECU should the interface are detect.

BR, Tom

Go to control panel> add/remove and check what version of .net framework you have installed, remove all that are higher than V1/V1.1 and then re install the V2.0 from the link in the tune ecu sticky above.
Reboot then download the .exe version of the ftdi drivers and run, once finished plug in the obd cable and if doesnt prompt for a driver your all done.

Aaaaargh!

followed those instructions;
removed .net frameworks
downloaded and installed v2, rebooted
removed old drivers using the utility and unplugged cable
ran .exe file. got mesage that installed
plugged in cable, and got the instal driver prompts.

then the issues original posted were reproduced.

what is going on here ?

I can select the folder only, the drivers them selves do not show ( but they are there, as I can see them after downloading and extracting).

Are you certain your cable has the FTDI chipset? If not, those drivers won't work.
