Tuneboy 20210 vs 20275

Hi All,

I've got a history of cold-starting problems (recent topic here: http://www.triumphrat.net/speed-trip...ml#post1296430 and here: http://www.triumphrat.net/speed-trip...-starts-2.html)

Now I have some findings but need help figuring out what to do about it...
I have a 2007 S3 (we run the 05 exhaust system in Aus though) with high-mount CRM's.
I have the cold-starting issues every morning, running the 20210 Tuneboy tune.
I applied the 20275 tune and had 2 days in a row of easy starting.

The problem is I don't want to run 20275 because the popping is more like an annoying, sick burble... I get popping with 20210 but it sounds awesome, like a GP bike, nice big random pops every now and then on decel...

So I've run up an excel sheet to compare the fuel maps and various Tuneboy tabs for each tune. At starting TP/RPM, the fuel values are identical on F1-F3 tabs.
So in an attempt to get 20210 starting easily, I have...
tried lowering idle speed by 50-70 RPM's.
tried +5% and -5% Fuel Trim for 0% and 1% Throttle Position at up to 1100 RPM's.
I confirmed that the O2 sensor is enabled for both tunes (I have one fitted).

Can anyone please suggest anything more I can try with 20210 that might help it to start where 20275 seems to do it easily?

I've been hesitant to play with some of the other tables in case I mess something up, ie pre-ignition, etc...

Thanks much for your help!

i misunderstood, sorry,so help me understand,i thuoght the sai was the cause of popping on decel and blocking the sai cured that.if no sai then why the popping?if the bike still pops with no sai i won't waste my money.

No idea why it's popping, but there must be another reason?

I have always read and been told that Aus bikes didn't have SAI,.. I haven't personally checked, I've always had the popping... I actually like the popping so don't want to be rid of it! Although after trying 20275, I now know there's good popping and there's not so good popping...

Thing is, I've never seen a tune that has No CAT but With SAI... the two seem to go hand in hand, either it's both or it's neither... would you say that's accurate?

Dunno whether the map takes the SAI into account or not BUT I'm running an '05 with M4 GP exhaust. Has the SAI connected but no CAT because of the pipe. The map I have is for the Arrow low mount and the bike runs sweet as nut ... hope that helps ...

here's a wild thought, and i don't know about the bikes over there,if the sai is just blocked off, or not there at all,but if you like the popping and if there was a way, hook up the sai and run the sai tune the funny thing is since reading this thread is iv'e been playing around with the throttle and found i can control how much or how little popping i get. if i close the throttle hard i get almost no pops but if i add just a little, just a hair, i can make it pop like hell.

OK, some fantastic news (for me)

It was impossible to start the bike in the cold with the 20210 tune.
I suspected a sensor or the computer was screwing it up when I found out blowing a hairdryer down the exhaust for a few minutes let me start it fine, every time.
I tried tune 20275 and it started perfectly but I hated the fuelling (bubbling on closed throttle).

So with Tuneboy I have copied ALL of the tables in 20210 and applied them over the top of the 20275 tune.

It starts perfectly on cold mornings and still has the fuelling I like (good, motogp-style popping).

I will get it dyno'd at some stage so I know it's as good as it can be, but for now, I'm done!

Thanks for the input everyone
