Angry So I just fixed my 955i wiring harness problem and now my 675's got the same problem.

So go figure. Not only the exact same problem, but the exact same spot as my last bike breakdown. I mean EXACT same spot. I pulled off to the exact same parking spot even! Different bikes and everything! So it started all when I had the butterfly valve to the exhaust start malfunctioning. Engine light went off right at around the 6000 mile standard tune. Took it in, butterfly valve will be replaced and they let me ride it home. 1 year warranty still left as well. 3 days later, I go to fill it up, no problem. Go to start it after the refill and it kind of dies after trying. Go to start it again and it fires right up. No problem! Ride it 13 miles and get off the freeway and as im pulling around the corner, it dies on me. I pull off the street to the exact same spot as when my 955i died. Electrical problems. As I was pulling off the freeway, my RPM meter was acting all haywire. My gas light was on also. Turned the bike off and pulled out the key and my front turn signals were still on. RPM meter was stuck on 4000rpm and when I turned the key, would drop to 0rpm, shoot to 14000rpm and go back down to 0rpm like normal. Went to start it and CLICK. That's all that it's doing. All pre-ignition lights on like normal but it won't start. Cascade Motor Classics is coming to pick it up right now but seriously. WHAT ARE THE ODDS THAT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN TO TWO DIFFERENT BIKES. NOT EVEN THE SAME MODEL! AND IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT FROM THE EXACT SAME RIDE! My luck. At least this time the bike is still under warranty! So I'll post to tell what happened and what the dealer will do and found. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The fix on my other bike was replace the wiring harness. Hope this one is the same and dealer will do the work this time!

Sounds like one of two things... Either a dead or dying battery. These bikes have tiny little batteries and are very sensitive to the charge in it, or a regulator/rectifier issue.

Good luck with the repair...

Jeff

That's what they guy from the dealership said... He's all "maybe you should avoid this exit from the freeway!"

I dunno, all I know is that both Triumphs were good bikes but through that exit and off the ramp, they both died in the exact same spot. It's got to be an oddity of Triumph with me or something! I'll post to tell what it is since it's got warranty still! Otherwise it'll be out of pocket and I'll be too pissed to tell what really happened! For at least a month, then I'll tell the real story...
I swear, Not my Fault, ALL I DID WAS REPLACE THE EXHAUST! I SWEAR! THAT"S ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dying batter sounds like it could be the problem, it did sit for 3-4 days while I rode my other bike, the 955i. I did start up fine but when it died I was riding it, then it puttered out like something was wrong with the electric system. then didn't start at all, just made a click noise like it wanted to get juice to something then didnt. Hopefully it's just a relay or something!

Sounds quite similar to my dead battery and then replaced rectifier from early in the season except I wasn't at your freeway exit. Because that would be just plain creepy.

Turns out it was exactly the same problem as you mentioned above. rectifier went bad and is being replaced under warranty! Woo Hoo! Just haven't had a bike for a week is all!

I knew there was a reason that I take a different route home every day from work I would say that now is not the time to be planning a trip to Vegas! What bad luck.

Dealer said along with the rectifier, the voltage regulator went out so both of these parts are STILL coming in, and it's been two weeks now. I just want my darn bike back! This season isn't going to last forever!!!
