Sport Rider Project Triumph

I've been following with interest Sport Rider's Project Triumph race kit build-up in the August and September issues. I was surprised to see that the race motor dropped a valve in the No.1 cylinder at the get-go. They then swapped to a standard road engine and did the same thing again-- dropped a valve in No1. As I remember Performance Bike's endurance race test of the 675 earlier this year also resulted in a dropped valve in less than 400 miles. What gives?

Beats me. There are four of them racing out here, and none of them has dropped a valve or done anything else like it. They have all been reliable as a stone. Throwing them down the track doesn't do them any good, and all but one has been tossed at least once. Mine is a streetbike, but spent a little time on the track last year (including getting tossed down the track once) and has had no mechanical issues. I don't know why the Brit Squid Press is sucking down valves like they are.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Valves

Very odd the bikes apparently dropping only valves in the No 1 cylinder-the right one from the riders perspective-exhaust and intake valves both seem to be guilty- think it is heat related? Very hot in SoCAl and Alabama -How hard are they running these motors? Cant buy one yet until they figure out the problems involved. Am looking at he new street triple with the D suspension etc. When ARE THEY DUE??
