Speedway town officials have decided to withdraw two ordinances intended to prevent potential problems outside the track during the Sept. 14 MotoGP race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
One ordinance would have allowed police to ticket motorcyclists causing excessive noise by revving their engines. The other would have prohibited parking of motorcycle trailers on town streets two days before qualifications through race day.
The Town Council was scheduled to give second reading on those ordinances at its meeting Monday.
"There has been some concern raised that we don't send the wrong message, so the council plans to withdraw the ordinances," said Speedway Town Manager Barbara A. Lawrence. "We are very excited about having this race here."
Lawrence said the council developed the new regulations based on conversations with leaders in other communities where motorcycle races are held.
She said town leaders could revisit the issue after the race if any problems arise.
