Check Engine Light

Looking for a little help here.

I recently installed a Two Brothers can on an 08, and took it into the local dealership to have the ECU worked over a little to compensate for the exhaust. All was well until recently I pulled off the gold anodized silencer on the can and received a happy little check engine light.

Has anyone had this same issue... as I'm beginning to think a Tune Boy or Power Commander is in my near future to take care of this.

I also have an 2008 Daytona, and I just installed a TBR M5 carbon fiber exhaust. Although I have not taken the baffle off yet. But I have thought about doing so. Keep me in touch with anything that you do to correct the engine light. Thanks. By the way how do you like your TBR exhaust sound?

TBR sounds great. I have the exact same thing, M5 Carbon.

The check engine light seemed to have just went away. The only thing I have noticed is that the exahust valve seems to be freaking out at times. When I first got the TBR, doing roll ons in fifth and sixth gear, it would stumble on itself and there was a noticable change in tone, (valve confused).

Also, when you turn on the ignition without actually starting the motor, you can hear the valve searching for a happy spot.

After I got the tune done from the dealership, the above problems on roll ons went away. I am beginning to believe the check engine light is a freak incident when the ECU cannot properly even out due to just the right variables, (temp, altitude, what I had for breakfast, etc.).

I have a buddy with a Tune Boy and he said he'd hook me up if I get the key, we'll see if that helps any.

Hi Leland. As I understand it, Your friend may connect to Your ECU if it is the diagnostic part of Tuneboy You want to use (read and/or clear stored malfunction codes). Its enough if he got the code from his own bike. Its when You want do download a new tune (TuneEdit) You'll need a code specially for Your own ECU.

At least it might be worth to give it a try.

Your troubles sounds like EXBV (EXUP) adjustment related to me. I'm quite sure it have nothing to do with the removal of the golden restrictor.

Good luck anyway!

Blah, I just went for a ride on my D675 and the "engine light" came on @ 5230 miles on it! No smells, noises, the bike rode fine. Oh well guess I need to take it in to the dealer to check the codes and may as well see if he can do the 6000 mile checkup early....

Ok the check engine code was a sticking exhaust valve, a little cable adjustment, cleaning and all good now. Also got my 6000 mile maintenance done. Also found that I had a nail in the rear tire, which was a bummer. So I had to replace my tire, dont want any blowouts!! Anyways bike is ready to go now..... Ride Safe.

The exhaust valve is a very typical problem. It's a harmless nuisance as far as I know.

What do you guys use to get the codes off your bikes in the case the check engine light does come on?
