Topping up Coolant

I have approximately 3300 km on my new 08 Daytona 675 and the coolant level is below the min mark when the bike is level and upright, however my high coolant temp light has not yet lit up on the instrument panel.
In the service manual they say:
"A permanent type of anti-freeze is installed in the cooling system when the motorcycle leaves the factory. It is coloured blue, contains a 50% solution of ethylene glycol and has a freezing point of -35 degrees Celcius"
1) Should I add coolant now or wait until the high coolant temp light comes on?
2) Can I add Maxima Coolanol to the factory installed coolant currently in the system?

Danfost,
I would suggest you fill up the coolant overflow container. The reason you will find the overheat light hasn't come on is because there is still coolant in the radiator. The overflow is mostly for when the radiator starts overheating. For example when I did some 1/4 mile runs the overflow bottle filled up way past the max mark and actually spewed some fluid out on the bike. Left it for a while to cool down and the overflow showed below the max mark.

What you are experiencing means you have a bubble in the system somewhere. Put the bike on a rear stand with the bodywork off, and open the radiator cap. Fire up the motor and add a little distilled water at a time, squeezing the upper radiator hose periodically to "burp" the system. There are probably more kosher ways to do it with a bleed valve, but that's what I have done on everything from Triumph motorcycles to Chevy V8s. Once you get no more room for water, put the cap back on and shut off the engine. Then fill the overflow bottle to the proper mark.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

Hey danfrost, I had the same thing happen to my 2008 daytona. I also had concerns about possibly overheating the engine. I took it back to the dealer, they check out the hoses for tightness and they made sure all the air bubbles were out of the system by venting it and rocking the bike back and forth. Once that was completed they added the 50/50 antifreeze to the full mark on the overflow bottle, and thats where it pretty much stays today. Good Luck

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I went ahead and added the Maxima Coolanol but only midway between min and max marks because I read somewhere about it expanding then overflowing if you top it up. I don't think I have bubbles in my system because everything seems to be running fine.
