Exclamation Do the Gel seats really feel more comfortable?

I am considering buying gel seats for driver and passenger and am wondering if it will actually help with the sore arse... I did an 80 mile ride the other day and my girlfriends arse was completely numb...so she said. But I believed her cause mine was too. And my wrists were shot! What can I do about this problem. Heli bars and gel seats? is that the answer here or whatelse. Do side tank pads help grip with the knees to support your upper body weight and take the weight off of your wrists? maybe I'm riding it all wrong, but I just can't take this bike for more than 40 miles...I'll die! Or go numb from my hands to my ankles!!! Any pointers appreciated! Also to note, I own a '98 955 daytona and it never did this to me unless I took it for 150+ miles. different ergo I understand... but still, WHAT CAN I DO????

BTW: Just got my $600 stimulus check from GOV and want to spend it on my bike, so one way or another, it's goin there! Gel Seats and Heli bars, Or aftermarket exhaust???

Opinions?

Do get some tank pads of some sort. it will help your wrists. when I got my 675 I couldn't hold the tank with my knees and it made it tough to ride to far. I got the techspec and they work well.

I don't ride mine on the street to much but can go all day on the track without getting tired. I can't speak for the gel seat but I've heard others on this site say it helps for longer rides and touring in the 675.

I have the Rider and Pillion Gel seats on my street bike as well as TechSpec Tank Grips and love the set up.

Gel seats are great for long rides but I took mine off because I live in sunny Florida and when you park in the sun the gel heats up something fierce. and take along time to cool off. so I traded a scorched ass for a numb one.

Yey!!

I'm glad this thread is here because now that I am at the end of week 1 on the new 675, I have to say that the riding position is KILLING me! I love the bike, but it is one of the most uncomfortable setups ever. I will invest in gel-seats and tank pads and perhaps heli-bars.

Try this for the Helis. I have them and they are great. I didn't mind the stock bars so much but the Helis make it cozy when you relax. They still let you get tucked in and push. This bike demands a sporting type rider position for best results.
